Hey AsliBadshah,
It beats me a bit to think as to what could be the real purpose of your wanting to know the exact number.How is it going to help you or anyone with the knowledge of a question like the one you posed? People on this thread have already done quite a bit of number crunching.. and by the looks of it still not gone any further.
I think unless we have got profs from IIMs giving us the number of calls ,unique calls ,general seats ,reserved seats all of us would be like this

i too would like to know about the total number of seats in general category in IIM...as I would like to determine how many ppl appearing for IMT-G with the intention to join will actually have percentiles above me...
For that I need to eliminate the total general seats in IIMs, S P Jain, MDI, FMS, XLRI, IIFT, (and mayyybe NITIE) as im guessing ppl who get these wont join IMT-G...

Basically I have a 96.23%ile..so considering that 2.3 lakh ppl appeared for CAT 2007....so approx 8670 ppl are above me in the list..
