Strange , Strange pattern - No EU at all in the english section ooupled with 5 Tough RC passages which can induce coma when read together , still managed 6 correct answers (sufficiant to clear cut off) but an intold no. of wrong ones , sending accuracy for a toss.

I panicked in DI section and should have put my head together for 1 hr. and then the Gold coins one and Jute export caselet seemed doable and enough to clear cut off

Maths was again strange and it seems distinctly possible to me now that it could be the pattern for CAT 07 (still I hope not) , but coins ques. were easy and 3 sitters pretty much .

hi,
this kind of pattern is very much possible,
nothing is fixed in cat,
thats what, people have messed cat 2004 when they have seen first time differential marking.
it looks bad when u score less and still get good percentile, but its a competitive exam and u have to compare with your peers.
in this type of paper, accuracy is important and clearing cu off is only posible with good accuracy.
i suggest everyone those have missed or messed, solve this paper atleast one.
a real good stuff!

15, 18, 16. what say?
average score?

deep,
get the paper and solve it once,
it will chech your preperation to the best level,
it was not a shocking, but surprising paper,
may not write in 150 min but atleast solve it.
Cf is shaking us...

I had to miss this PreCat. Reason being:

I gave the TIME AimCat instead. Its not that i wasn't giving it earlier. Just that TIME people now have only one batch i.e. 10-1. Hence the timings clash. Hence, i had to choose either TIME or CF. I chose AIMCAT coz i can get thew paper from CF later and solve it at home. However, TIME people do not give the paper if we miss the test .

Anyway, coming back to this precat, i have heard that this wasnt really as good as the earlier ones. I presume CF is thinking of giving too many shocks to acclimatise us with the shocks CAt may give. However, CF (or even IMS for that matter) is going overboard with this strategy. I fell during these last mocks, there should be papers which are closest to CAT in terms of difficulty, so that people who have done the preparation sincerely are able to score well and get some confidence going for themselves.Anyway, we cannot dictate terms .

Cheers,
Deep

PS: I'll try to give the next two PreCATs. (Albeit at home). I doubt i'll give this one even at home as i have been strongly advised by my friend to give it a miss. Will decide after seeing the paper maybe and based on the time i have

ATB to all

PS2: I haven't seen the paper yet and my views are based entirely on the conversation with my friend. If i find them incorrect, i'll edit them out later.

i agree,
it is very much possible.
clearing the cut off was not a tough job.
my opinion:
attemp only two caselets in DILR,
only two caselets in Quants(one is perfect square, one is series, one is function) any two!
any two RC
and u have done a good job even if u have attempted 8 question per section.

u cant escape!
must go through this paper once again.

if u look at the question type then nothing new is there,
onlt difference is all questions r in caselets,
every type is known.
all r there in prevoius papers. am i right?
last year,
EU was different,
FIJ came after 12 years,
no one says anything to IIMS, we cant!
2003, quants, most of the questions in the form of caselets.
i think those have missed it, think again, every type of paper is unique, dont miss it,
16(eng) + 10(quant) + 29(DI)
three more questions in QA, u could have cleared cut off in all sections.
good paper!

your analysis is right, most of the people have felt differently while writing this test.20+ in each section is verymuch possible,20+ means only 5 questions correct...............ooooops!possible.lets see what happpens in PreCAT 11ATB

good paper!
I agree. See, every question type is standard. What made us off balance was that all questions were in caselet form.
Also, in English section, there were grammar and vocabulary question- 6 of them- so English Usage was covered. Critical reasoning was covered through assumption, inference strong week arguments. Para comletopn, para introduction was covered. Plus standard specific detail questions and implied idea questions in RC were covered.
In Maths the 6 caselets covered all areas- Algebra , arithmetic, geometry and numbers. You needed to pick two areas you were comfortable with.
In DI, there were two standard do-ble caselets we are all used to.

We are trying to do too much, you know, maximise attempts. I think the learning from this paper is clearly that when you see a differently structured paper, stay cool and concentrate on accuracy rather than more attempts.

My Scores

QA- 16
VA-23
RA-12
