Try to pratice your weak areas from Arun Sharma Quant book that is best book. Usually arithmatic does not comes for so many marks but nothing sure as such. You are not at all late for your prep. Best way to check your level take last year CAT paper or 2006 CAT paper. Take note of cut-off. Then according to that prepare. According to me if your english is good. 6 months prep is sufficient for CAT. Confidance plays major role in the examination hall than anything else. Try to do atleast 2-3 RC everyday now onwrads to build RC in english as it palys role. My English was not that good but with pratice I got percentile in english. Anything else you can ask me.

I was an aspirant of CAT 2007 but somehow botched up...!!

Now, I ve again pulled up my socks to fight CAT 2008. Puys, could you please suggest a good instiitute in Gurgaon. I guess...Sumit can help me in it..

i am also preparing for cat2008
and while solving number system in arun sharma i came across a few problems and the solutions were not there in the boook..So if sum1 could help me out it would be really appreciated.

Question 1 : A triangular number is defined as a number which has the property of being expressed as a sum of consecutive natural numbers starting with1.HOw many traingular numbers less then 1000 have the property that they are the difference of squares of two consecutive natural numbers.

Question 2 :Amitabh has a certain number of toffees such that if he distributes amongst 10 chlidren he has 9 left,if he distributes amongst 9 children he would have 8 left,if he distributes amongst 8 children he would have 7 left.....and os on until if he distributes amongst 5 children he would have 4 left.What is the second highest number of toffees he would have with him?
a.2519
b.7559
c.8249
d.none of these

according to what i can gather

we have to find the lcm of 10,9,8,7,6,5
and sub 1

we get 2520 as the lcm
so 2519 would be the least

max would be 2520*4-1
cos for 2520*5 the remainder would become zero

so we get 2520*3-1 as the second highest.....
ie 7559

answer has to be none of these
as there would be no highest

tough the no 2520*5
would be divisible by 5
but 2520*5-1=12599
would leave the remainders as desired

hence no highest and hence ans is none of these
