Dear puys...b frank...my vocab is below average,reading speed is very bad..am trying hard to get maximum in othr sections to get n overal score enuf to fetch calls...pls tel me how to prepare for va n RC..as starter...am nt havin mch reading habit..pls suggst me some books for a strater..pls help buddiezzz

hi raksrox.....yeah i joined the time in ravipuram.....working guys if u are able to put the maximum you can in a day is good...coz different people have different potentials....so it depends whether one or two hours will work for u....also some days can be tiresome...try to find a way to compansate....

Strategy is simple ......

I am s/w guy..in Bangalore, Electronics City......me too buddy

so, 1 hour i get in the company bus for reading at any day... one biggest problem is in the bus radio would be on and since the bus would be moving i feel nausea , so i would prefer to take rest in the bus , unfortunately i cant sleep in the bus .

Plus 1 hour in the extended lunch break in the library ..hehe ...... i am using this to read hindu editorial ,

And another 1:30 - 2 hours in evening time in library.....its open till 8:30 pm... no time :neutral:

So there it is 1+1+2 = 4 hrs and of course +- 1 hr on some days depending on work ....

Great , looks good on paper . If u are following it relegiously u would defenitely clear cat, i wish u would be left enough fuel till the D day . And i hope u would reach ur home at around 9:30 and have dinner and watch some TV and back to sleep.

Thats means for an entire week , u would be out of touch with the actual world. i think u should fine tune it a little bit here , spend some time with ur friends or loved ones a bit .

have some fun activities , if u say u enjoy studying and being in front of books , thats awesome , no complaits , as i get dull and drained if i sit in front of the books for long

even i had the same problem ,

see everyone was advising me to just read read and read a lot, even i got confused , by just reading a lot how will my VA scores would improve....

i still havent got the exact answer but my scores defenitely improved

So what i would suggest u would be buy Norman lewis and finish it in next 45 days . u can do it in 45 days , its a very small book .

And alteast read the editorials of hindu ( 2 pages every day ) . u would defenitely see the improvement next month , if u follow this every day . And also mark the difficult words and learn there meaning later by making a note of it in a separate book. some of the words would be repeating and then , u would feel so happy if u can recall the meaning of the word and if this happens u would never forget that word and u would even start using it while conversing .

Afer a week or so increase the quantity , ;ike buy businees world - try to finish in a week , and then frontline , 2 magzines in 1 and half weeks and go on .........

unknowing ur speed would have doubled if u do atleast 80% of what i have told.

In the process u would feel a inclination towards certain topics and read more about them .

So these things apart increasing ur VA scores , would also increase ur thinking level , intellectual levell , GK level, which in turn would be of great help in PI/GD.

sab ko bejo yaar , there are so many people who just browse and collect the info .

hey guys, heres my penny worth f advice to all of u.....

well, my suggestion to improve on ur VA & RC would be to keep on with the reading and Practising stuff. and if u guys wanna try somethin else, i must tell u a secret dat i have been practising for the last 2 yrs,

step 1:READ EDITORIALS(lots f em)
step 2: try n make a mental note of whatever u have read and ur opinion on dat,
step 3: WRITE DOWN THE EDITORIAL IN YOUR OWN WORDS.

it is very beneficial believe me.it helps in:
1. improving ur comprehension skills.
2. improving ur expression
3. improving ur understanding of written english.
4. wud help u in case u plan to take GMAT as well(my word,work ex ppl, go for it)
5. u may end up being a writer if not an MBA (hehehehe)

so dats my funda for VA preparation. this is somethin i have followed and which has benefitted me quite a lot.

and as regards DI, jus try and stick to the basic QUANTS for that and do some logical excercises. take up shakuntala devi. and dats all u can do for DI.
