But still, I know it keeps nagging sumwhere in the head.....So here are a few sample answers: (I am an electrical engg and will be soon joining Accenture )
1. Well you can always say that since IT is( well maybe was) a field that is quite happening, you wanted to start their and get some work - ex in it and then go to Bio tech field and integrate what you learnt with BT.
2. You can also say that you were interested in the programming stuff and this was one chance to test ur potential (u can say tht u took bio tech bcoz ur colg is too gud to leave and hence u compromised on the branch).
Will get back with more as and when I can think them up...
Also, as diablo said, best would be to bluntly tell the truth, they are bloody experts at catcing liars....

Ok so as u the need of hr is dissection lets go with that
As federer has answered that u can show ur interest area in that and go away with that.. but IMHO this will path can lead to a road block . Now the ques is how? Ok so further carrying out the needle work. u need to justify the following ques if u answer that( these questions r from practical exerience)
- if we go by 1st answer then u wil be mercilessly asked question pertaining to how u integrate both of them. the way out will b if u really have indepth knowledge. at this stage I mean AGE the interviewer expect us to b pretty clear about what we wanna do with our life.. theyd ont expect us to shoot bullets in air as we did for our Btech job rounds or as happened in 12std when papa said and we did. questions will also revolve around why not do MS and any other courses (short terms) which encompasses ur need.Look if we say field is happening then they will say what if the when u join the field whcih is happening changes..then u will run after that. That shows the instability factor which we dont wanna do
. so use this answer when u r sure u wanna carry on in the field of managemnet with respect to BT and then do some basic research pertaining to it and refine ur answer. avoid " Happening" term
- if we go by 2nd explaination. again instability factor comes. Federer has partially though said right .. can say that at that time college was good so u did. but this will again show u as gold digger by not focussing on doing what u like.but trying to like what u do. Avoid that. U need to show that MBA is the only thing that fits in ur long term plan. so here we go the trick which has almost worked everywhere is using a tinge of emotional drama by saying at that time u were not so sure and mature and ur parents took most of ur decsion and that time they thot its best for me and u went with that. Now after going through various learning curves which has helped shaping u and ur foresight..blah blah u r sure MBA is the thing u wanna do
If they say short terms courses are avail ..then u shd say the value addition of MBA and learning path ..being spread over 2 yrs will give u more learning oppututnites also faster career growth and what not story again comes in to play.
They will also can ask u why u r not going for experience and work for some time then come back. then talk about continuity break.. and LAST family pressure being gal
always keep senti stuff ( a bit dont overdo ) in end as this can also show u in wrog sens if u give due weightage to that showingbu weak n all.. it shd b jst sued as icing in extreme conditions
Look its always good to b truthful almost 70-80% in interview ..u need to make up some part but not all of it. later u do that or dont doesn't matter. how u can justify MBA is something u need to introspect and come up.I tried by relating my life learnings from job college and family with my interest in MBA and that justified everywhere
