ANALYZE the paper well. For each section, you will have 4 kinds of questions at the end of the test.
1. Correct
2. Wrong
3. Worked on, but not attempted
4. Not attempted at all

For correct questions, find out the steps that u had followed. Was that the only method to solve the question? Was there a better method?

For wrong questions, find out the point where you went wrong. What was your thought process while answering the question? Why did you make that mistake? Was it because you didn't know the technique or was it a silly mistake?

For the 3rd type, find out whether the track you were following was correct and why did you leave it midway.

For the 4th type, find out why you did not attempt that question. Was it fear? You didn't know what to do? If you had attempted, would you have made it?

Then analyze the whole section overall. Your attempt pattern, areas of attempt, time given to each question etc.

The next level woyld be to analyze the whole paper overall. The time spent at each section, did you attempt your strength section first or weak section etc.

After 3-4 mocks, attempt questions from all papers topicwise. Say, geometry questions from all 4 papers. You will see a pattern emerging. Repeat this after 8,12,16 papers. The idea is to REVISE.

Believe me, analysis is THE MOST important part of mocks. Each 2 hr mock needs at least 6 hrs of analysis. Ask this to any BSchool junta.

Hope this helped.

Since time is very less now to get a full fledged preparation, I would suggest that go through last 5 years CAT papers and find out which all topics are stressed more (Eg. Number System, Geometry). Also, every topic will have few important concepts repeated over and over again. Identify those and work on them.

Since you have joined coaching, I presume that you are also taking the mocks. See the analysis method in the post above yours and do that. I think it will help.

Hey
See..Most of the good B-schools have cutoffs but there are exceptions like Nirma, IMT and Tapmi(Not sure abt TAPMI though)......Others likie KJS and Welingkar too dont have stringent sectional cutoffs

But B schools like NITIE and MDI require certain minimum sectional score..A sectional cutoff of 80-85 should suffice with overall of around 97 for MDI and 98.2+ for NITIE...

CAT prepration is not rocket science its juz ur normal study...
First of all I wd like to suggest you to give a free prelimanary test which is available at all coachin instis for free....This will tell you where u stand currently in ur CAT prep...Then u shd plan accordingly..

As far as vocab is considered..Again its relative...I dun believe in muggin words n not able to use them...So i prefer to read fiction/non fiction, good english daily n likes it it...Or alternativly u can also get Books from Norman Lewis..These are pretty good startes for VOCAB....Dependin on ur current state in VA...

ATB
Cheers
