hi user,
i have enrolled for the time correspondence course this year...
the books i have got have the plan drawn in them as flowcharts...may be you can check the books with your other batchmates...
i don't remember the names of the books...if u still need them i ll mail them to you after monday...
a generalised approach for that is to finish the concept building books first, then the exercises...

The schedule that you mentioned looks fine to me; in fact it looks quite rigorous to me..... It's gr8 if you're able to follow it everyday. Even if you miss 1-2 things sometime, it's still rigorous for me.

But one thing, I think you're neglecting LR/DI in this.... Just going by your schedule, you're only allotting 1 hr to DI and 3-4 hrs to QA and 3 hrs to Eng. Do you think it's justified??

And probably I don't need to tell this, but you need to improve your accuracy. This you know as you admitted that you're in a habit of marking unnecessarily. This has to stop..... It's not at all about how many you attempt, it's just about how many correct you get and basically, what's your accuracy. In the mock that you mentioned, you can see the implications of it.... (DI + QA = 0)

Try and not get worked up while studying, or while taking these mocks. Getting tense is one of the major reasons of not being able to perform to potential. Also, when you study, it's no point studying for long hours at a stretch or measuring how many hrs u studied in a day. I had studied around 2-3 hrs a day on an average and still managed a good %ile (check my signature links).

So, just reschedule your study plan. Give equal weightage to all three sections, as far as possible. It'll be good if you could study all 3 sections every day but it's not necessary. You can manage otherwise as well.

Anyways, if you need any help, you can always pm me

Re: CAT 2008 Aspirants - 29-06-2008, 01:20 AM

guys i hv a problem that m not able to find the reason of !!
i've started giving tests and i see that when i do all the Qns of the test i can solve almost 90% of the Qns in maths and 80% in DI and VA Quickly, Correctly and with no apparent difficulty....while in the test i rejected those as either difficlt ones or did it wrong or did it half way through(getting nowhere).....
the point i want to make is.... under time limit my performance takes a nose dive while with the same Qns with no time constraint i perform exceptionally well and end up doing it well within the time i should hv taken in a test !!
i cannot find the reason for this so that i could work on it !
if u could find any reason to it plz reply me !!
thanking u in anticipation !!

well most of the aspirants can do that ..under no time constraints mostly will solve the paper and thats what has always been .. thats y time factor comes in play

what u need to work which i guess u also know..is practicing alot with time..

take Timed sectional tests ..and this will help.. first let urself be slow.. u might be able to do less questions but try to do them correctly and then slowly try to increase ur pace.. by using all kind of hook n crook method such as eliminations and substitution.. try to find out ur strenght and use it vidictively on paper

I think most of the test takers (and not "givers") can solve many of the questions, either when they take it home, or they don't have any time constraints. It's not just about how many questions you can solve, it's more about how many within the given time frame, taking into account the peer pressure, exam pressure etc.

Be cool in the mocks and although you've to worry about the time, don't worry about the peer/exam pressure. You'll start getting the hang of the exams and performance would improve

All the best
