buddy,
you don't need to be the part of the flock...
you can always choose to be different...
i believe you must not switch to time or anything else just because everyone else is there...
CL also has a good mock test series...
last year i has joined the same...also many of my friends (final IIM converts) recommended CL test series to me...
i have joined time (correspondence) because i needed the material...and the test series came along with...

now that depends on your personal comfort levels whether you can manage two or more mock test series or not...

hi buddy,
if you can manage both then nothing better than that...
i m not sure about the exact figures but CL test takers are about two thirds of those taking TIME...
(as per my last year observation)...
you can also get opinions from other experienced puys on this very thread...

hey puys, i'm a li'l confused... cud you pls help me out with this?
which one is more imporatant-- clearing all the sectional cut offs n a lower %ile.... or, not being able to clear the sectinal cut offs, yet managing a better %ile than the former case...
is it not that only the IIM's consider the sectional cut offs too, while others pay heed to only the overall %ile secured??

Every good college apart from the IIMs, like MDI, NITIE etc., they have their own sectional and overall cutoffs. Although some good colleges like IMT Gzb consider only the overall but it's advisable that you concentrate more on clearing all the sectional rather than maximizing just 2 sections and screwing up the 3rd.

Even if a college doesn't consider sectional performance to shortlist, you're bound to be asked in the PI that how did you score so less in one section (happened with me in CAT '07)? Although you can provide a satisfactory answer and get into a good college as well, but why get into trouble??

I have seen both the arihant book by sarvesh kumar and pearson's book by nishit sinha book. I feel that nishit sinha is of much higher standard and has more difficult problems. Arihant would be better for starters as it has greater number of worked examples. Disclaimer - i haven't solved both the books completly and hence my views are not very authentic.

hi ripat,
please dont spam the other threads with your queries...
posting the same query on many threads doesn't ensure that you get the answer fast...
please keep that in mind...

well the answer depends on wht you call define as sectional cut off

and which instis you are targeting.....
in general one must pay attention to both: clearing all sections and maximizing over all score
there has to be a trade off and you have to decide what to give more focus on depending on the institutes you want to target....

general practice i suggest should be:
1) try to get a balanced score in each section
2) one you have achieved it target on the section you think you can score easily in and maximise your score......

(if you have sightly skewed sectionals and a great score you can get admission into MDI and other great colls)
