i m jealous of u freak,
u have got so helpful PMs (also competent enough that they are going great places as u mentioned)...
but majority of the PMs will be busy in screwing you up or at least trying to find a chance to screw you up...
i have seen 3 PMs in my 2 year tenure...no one was either so helpful or so competent...
so better option is not to tell anyone about the future plans and the preparations...

My problem gets componded by the fact that i am on an onsite project, though in Bangalore only, and my client is a tough nut to crack. So im desperately tryin to get into an offshore one.

Hopefully wen i get a release things should be easier. Someone told me thers a provision for study leaves??? any clues on that

well pls dont make that mistake of telling it to ur pm that u are giving CAT..
PM's are saddists(majority of them).they would pretend to listen to ur requests but at the end it works out the other way..
u can take a break from work by telling some reason..i took 1 month break from work last yr..i was suffering from typhoid ..this is what i told ppl at office..i produced a medical certi too...50 bucks u can get one
they can maybe get a doubt that u deliberately bunked for CAT but as long as u can get that med certi ur safe ..
but the thing is till u take a break make sure u dont disclose the fact to anyone(including ur team mates)that ur writing CAT..
this time i wont be bunking 1 full month..i woudl be bunking in a phased manner ..
1 week in september end and say 10 days in october end jus to make sure i go to office in nov and so that they dont get a hint im giving CAT

Hi Abhi,

Don't commit this mistake. I committed it last year and bore the brunt. :sarcasm:It is always better to find some other way out.

I have a friend who took leave from 1st oct till CAT. The reason he gave was knee surgery and that he would need rest after that.

And, today he is in XLRI.

So, a medical reason is always the best option to go for. Nobody can ever say no to this.

And you can never predict how your PM would react :2gunfire:if you disclose him abt your plans. :argue:

I would like to start a discussion on the very important aspect of 'Reading Speed', how much is sufficient? how to increase it?

As far as I am concerned it ranges from 150 (for vague and abstract topics) to aroud 300(in topics i am comfortable with).

one more problem I face is that when there is some very interesting material, I tend to get absorbed in it forgettin the time factor.

I think many among the junta are in the position as me.
views and ways awaited.....
