Just when we thought that we could write IMS open simcat without any worries, TIME comes out with this initiative, pretty late.

Anyway i have a doubt as to whether the TIME test is going to count as an AIMCAT or no; ie is it going to be AIMCAT 0920 or just a scholarship test???

Perhaps last years test takers can shed light on what happened at the beginning of last years mock season. (Aimcat 0820 was the only one i missed in the season :neutral: ) was it open for all?? and was it a scholarship thing on the lines of this year?

As im not taking regular classes at TIME this year, i dont think i eligible for all 20 tests (as per last years rules) There was no 15 as an open aimcat last year and the remaining were under the series package. So im looking for a way to write all 20 this year.

Anyway im attending TIME without doubt this sunday, and planning to take the simcat series as takeaway at Rs. 1500/- . ( TIME and IMS are inflexible about timings change, atleast at hyderabad)

Surprising that Career Launcher hasnt come out with a similar thing.

aim cat no 20-16 is only for regular students
or old students.....

I am preparing for CAT-2008. I got few old AIMCAT papers. I heard al lot about analyzing MOCK/AIM CAT. What exactly do we need to analyze?
Is it analyzing what are the topics/sub topics covered or some thing else? Please help me in this regard and elaborate what all we need to analyze. I think this will help other peoples who are new/fools like me.

in kolkata , i have seen posters where CL has also announced the same thing...free mock on 18th may...so that makes the count 3

hi, first of all everyone of us was a fool some or the other moment of time...:-) regarding your query, analysis means that after taking a mock test u need to find out what are your strengths, weaknesses, strategy which can fetch u max marks, why you faltered in that particular mock test...n many other questions... this is what analysis is all about... also you can find out many great posts on this very thread about the same query...(replied even better than me):-) so best of luck for ur further endeavours...

analyzing a mock paper can be of different level.....

The first level is identify..out of QA/VA/RC/DI which is ur strong area...on basis of which section u find easy in mocks..takes less time to solve...good accuracy and good scores...

Then comes ..analyzing individual sections...

For xample in QA section list down the area whic r ur strengths and which r ur weakness...then try to improve ur weaknesses @the same time not neglecting ur strenght..now in next mock analyze wether u hav improved ur weak area...

Also monitor the kind of mistakes u make during xams..calc,silly mistakes, logical mistakes..etc etc...chk wer u spend more time and y?

after coming back to home solve the paper without looking @ the soln..then compare ur home performance wid the xam performance.....wat went rong in xam...wat cud have been done...

@home try to solve a problem with diff strategy...then select the best startegy and try to apply them in future mocks...

For DI..find out which DIs r u confortable with...logic based or calculation based...chk ur accuracy...similarly for RC and VA...figure out the tyes of RC u like..types of questions..etc etc..

I guess for now these r enuf ...as the mocks will progress u will master the art of analyzing a Mock paper

as i have posted this earlier.. reiterating for the benefit
how to analyse
well it is everything
what u need to analyze
1- where u went wrong
a) were u wrong due to lack of knowledge
b) were u wrong due to lack of time
c) were u wrong due to silly mistake
d) were u wrong due to wrong understanding of concept
e) were u wrong due to marking a fluke
2- where u were not able to attempt
a) was it lack of time
b) was it lack of knowledge
c) was it fear of more time utilzation
3- where u went right
a) u were confident
b) it was a fluke
c) it took more time than it should take
d) it was an intelligent guess with some conceptual backing
4- how much time allocation u gave to each section
a) were there ques which u can solve but was not able to reach that page
b) did u gave too much time to the section u r good/bad on

Now u have a good mix of what concepts u r lacking and once u have given few tests u can easily tell which topic u r good at and which u r not so good
so this will help u in question selection as well will give u direction for further preparation as well
