ok...u can start off with reading papers everyday and as someone pointed out by reading hindu editorials...plus keep reading magazines and whatever you find handy..also u can refer to some q cards or vocab books if u are really concerned...hope this will help...

(and are u the same sid shukla who was in bangalore earlier...and if yes then i hope u would recollect another siddharth here in the same company boss)

I cleard FMS written only last year n didnt appeard 4 most of d MBA xaams
CAT % is 92.56:-|.
i joined time in d month of jan last yr .m a engg stream student completed BE from indore in dis apr-2008.
some of my reference are :
VERBAL - whole barrons word list ( :infinity:really tough task requires min 2-3 months for d whole list n depends on ur caliber)
KAPLANS premier 2008 edition -basically it is for gre but its synonyms n antonmys r great .
also NORMAN LEWIS - word power made easy was a real help

ARITHMatic portion - TIME notes only .

FOR RC-TIME notes & "how to read better n faster" -by NORMAN LEWIS (though its a basic book bt easily illustrate how to get gist of some intangile n elusive paras of FMS n CAT.):new_multi:

Please avoid putting same stuff again n again..

as on persona not i found SIMCATS to b the most balanced one in all terms..

time and CL were at one side more iclined towards one section. but simcats were really apart.. only stupid one was simcat11 the simshock. useless paper..

ppl dont miss any of open mocks..a s max ppl take them n u can have better idea of ur performance.. relatively offcourse

HI Guys,

From my exprience of 1 yr preparation of CAT..

QUANT: ARUN SHARMA + TIME PUNE Classroom course => Good
Do practice tuf questions but also give some emphasis on speed mathematics.. This will help in other exams like SNAP , NMAT where questions are more and easy with limited time... ARUN SHARMA level 1 has such question.. solve all of them..

DI: DI can be mastered by practicing a variety of sets... make a small note of each type of set.. i.e. in a separate note book make a note on how to approach different type of sets.. what are the short cuts.. keep solving DI sets and adding point in you notebook,.. at the end of 2-3 months u will master this subject.. also great emphasis on learning square, cubes, square root, cuberoots up to limited numbers.. tables up to 30 will also do good..

VI.. do read editorial and the tips given in classroom course.. have a sound vocab as it will help in exams like XAT and IIFT..

While SIMCATS are quality stuff really really good.....the maxcats are disappointing not of much use, apart from givin u that feel good thing that u really cracked it!!.....and that too number of people competing in maxcats are very less compared to Sims.........making it into 16 Simcats is a gr8 decision unless of course it is just a "name change" and alternative Sim's are like the maxcats........now that only time will tell for u guys!
Guys do a caselet a day at least, an RC a day and mebbe 10 sums from quant......there's no hard and fast rule or limits to this but "atleast" this much......and take it easy don't worry ureself mad over one SIMCAT gone wrong its not worth it.....just take the chill approach and u'll increase ure chances multifold......

im back after a long hiatus !!!
now getting back to business..im going to take only the TIME AIMCATs this time..
ppl say it starts by 25th may..but i jus want to know if it is an open AIMCAT on 25th may?
because last yr we had one like this and later based on the scores of the free AIMCAT we had discounts on the test series package..can some TIME classroom student verify this?
AIMCATS starting on may 25th is too early atleast for non TIME students !!!
so pls clarify this with ur time centres..is the AIMCAT TEST series starting on 25th may for the classroom students or for NON TIME students as well?

the argument of sim shock......

am suprised so many ppl are against it.....

i guess i support it only because i did well in it.....

any ways now that i think about it.....
they used to say if you do well in this one you will surely do well in all exams.....
but i never did well in any of the finals i gave......

any ways lets just leave the simshock aside and loock at teh rest of the papers.....
simcats are good and now that there are 16 of them i am sure they would give time a good competetion........

tough simcats are mucg cheaper than aimcats
please remember that time gives many questionpapers as take aways
also they have all india mocks for other papers also (xat,snap,fms,iift etc)

PS: had scored 99.69 with air 47 in simshock

Hello everyone.
CAT 07 had been one hell of a ride for me.
After scoring 99.43%ile (A high)
I received calls from only 2 IIM's (A low)
Had a decent outing as far as IIM I interview was concerned (A high)
And a very bad day as far as IIM K interview was concerned (A low)
Results were out and was rejected by IIM K (A low)
But the was still some hope as i was in the waitlist of IIM I (A high)
All hopes got shattered as i got a waitlist no. of 272 (The lowest point)
But then, i have now gathered myself and am preparing in full swing for CAT '08.

Hope i will be of some help in this forum.....
