Ambriesh, if you've never taken a test earlier, I feel it'll be good to take one, so that you know where you stand as of now. The test should be able to give you a clear direction on the focus areas of your preparation.

All the best!

Its your personal call. But remember few things
-Never take mock cats as a barometer of your performance if you are not 100% prepared.
-Do not change your plans and studying patterns because you are not getting good percentile in one mock (If it happens regular times try to analyze the problem and talk to your mentor)
-Just keep on working hard and take mock-cats as practice sessions.

And the best key to crack CAT is never say die spirit.

These things seem very easy but once a person enter the battle ground of CAT-preparation, one realizes its easier to conquer the world but very difficult to conquer oneself.

Hi Guys,

Here is a nice resource to know a lot about Peak Oil Crisis. Since you guys will keeping up with some of the recent happenings as a part of CAT prep, this detail will be very helpful for you guys (I think!)

Podcast: Peak Oil Crisis with Chandramouli Mahadevan » Coffee With Sundar

I hope this discussion will help in enchancing your general awareness! I didnt have such a resource when I was preparing.

Buddy u can start taking it from right now even if u're not prepared no problems.....it will give u an idea of what to prepare atleast even if u land ureself a lowly percentile.....And when u prepare for the "whole thing" there's nothing like that yaar, there's no defined portion u can do or anything.....atleast in my opinion or from my experience I learnt along with the mock cats....infact even at home I'd prepare mostly not from books but by solving old TIME (and a few CL, CF papers) initially without a time limit and with a few months to go for the CAT with a time limit.
But yea the biggest challenge if u start early is the "burn out"........30 Aimcats later u'll feel very drained out......though the mocks are only on Sundays it is not the only day that u think about it(I gave the Simcats btw) The day before the mock I'd call my friends and discuss stuff like how do u think the variety would be, would it be a 150 or a 75 question paper tomm?.....will the toughest section be DI this time since it was maths last time?....stuff like that. The Sunday is completely gone since even after the paper the whole day would go discussing it, analysing mine and other's performances, solving unsloved questions, etc etc.
The next 2 days would fly away anticipating the results and hoping for a 99, checking the IMS website every day till they upload (no kidding it was an obsession).......and finally the remainder of the week analysing ure result comparing it with others and of course preparing for the next mock
The point is that it is "very draining"
And the solution is don't do what I did......people get lost in the mire of mocks and percentiles...at the end it does not matter if u were a TIME topper if u don't perform on that crucial day
Just prepare in a very normal way without tension, taking a break now and then, once u have given ure mock DO NOT ask a hundred people how were their papers and try estimating ure percentile blah......once u're done with the mock just let it go......take a break of 2 days and then solve the unsolved quests if u must that's it...and as the cliche goes "The CAT (though a lot) is not the end"....there can't be a truer cliche...ATB!!

Hi all,
I have been preparin myself and need ur help in choosing the right mock cats.
I have heard that IMS is giving 16 SIM cats this year and that too just for 1500/-. How many of u planning to join that?? I have been an IMS student last year, and the classes were pretty good. But last year i took only time AIM cats and they were a bit too tough. So not able to decide which one to take this time. Please help.

Thanks,

Please dont join mocks just seeing the price tags. also many coaching offers free open mock which u can take and decide subjectively

last year i tool all three mocks TIME,IMS,CL
as per my opinion i would advice join max two mocks.
TIME:- DI was pretty tough.its pretty decent
CL-quants were tough VA was OK ..infact if u get hold of there mock papers from a friend that will do as i have not seen any major change in there mocks as per last to last year and last year.
IMS:- a very balanced paper ..They improved alot last year and the quality was pretty good. however there one MOCK which they call SIMshock was a disappointment

Disclaimer: These are my personal opinion hence its always advisable to go thru the thread and decide

All the best

My personal opinion is if you want to go for only one go for TIME
As they are little tough it is better to get tested to extreme before d-Day
