Avinav, i differ in my opinion...if u have a look at last years CL papers the verbal was far lower than that of an AIMCAT. Even in terms of variety of verbal questions and closeness to real verbal of CAT, AIMCATS rule the roost. Infact i would even go as far as saying that the TIME paper setters set an even more tougher level of verbal than the CAT.

Verbal: TIME>IMS>CL (For CAT Preparation and also Level of Difficulty)

If u look at DI, CL has more realistic, challenging yet solveable sets which are more CAT like. TIME overcooks the difficulty in their DI (Added to the fact that im weakest at DI) and u find a lot of repetition of questions from previous years. The level of DI in AIMCATs is also higher than what u would find in a CAT, but here its a disadvantage(unlike verbal)

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning: CL>TIME>IMS (For Preparation)
TIME>CL>IMS (Level of Difficulty)

Quant is pretty much a level playing field. TIME and CL both have a different style of quant questions. (almost all CL questions are one or two liners) IMS tries to focus on clarity of building of concepts and the Quant from this years CAT was quite out of line from what IMS offered. Yet, the quality is good.

Quant: TIME=CL~=IMS (For preparation and difficulty level)

I would never miss an AIMCAT for a CL Mock or a SIMCAT, coz it challenges you and motivates you more than the other two. The competition in TIME is also better than the other two i feel. Last year i would get 99.2+ %ile in CL and IMS. but getting the same percentile in TIME is tougher. I would recommend any aspirant to definitely take TIME series and also if needed CL or IMS additional. (TIME+IMS seems ideal combination but IMS is inflexible in allowing u to write in the afternoon, whereas CL is, thats why i took TIME+CL)

Overall: TIME>IMS=CL

Hello friends,

I want to know whether Sarvesh kumar Verma for QUANT is a good book to start with the CAT preparation? Some people suggested me to start with Arun Sharma+ TIME Study material.......Actually i am working in a software company and i dont have time to join any coaching institute. Although i am planning to take up TIME and IMS test series... Kindly help....

It was my personal opinion. I don't know about IMS, but I've seen the mock papers of TIME and PT and I felt PT was way too easy and TIME was more or less similar to previous CAT pattern, but CL was by far the toughest...... no matter which section you look into.... And I state again, it's my personal opinion and it could differ.... So I don't think questioning my opinions would be any good as I only suggested based on my opinion as there maybe some people who think on similar lines as me

Hi.
Just wanted to know how are you people managing reading the newspaper(including ed and op-ed), magazines, books at the same time? I'm just reading the ed and making some short summary of it; reading some light books. As far as magazines are concerned, I hardly read them (the main constraint being time). Any suggestions on this are welcome.

Happy Reading.
