@ Ambriesh

Hi Ambriesh,

I feel the best institute depends on the location where you are staying, like, as I am presently at Bangalore (Indiranagar), the best insti here is no doubt TIME, so I had joined TIME, again say if you are staying at Delhi, might be some other insti is best out there......all I mean to say it all depends on faculty.......material wise TIME is the best I suppose.......may CL is also good enuf.......

Re: CAT 2008 Aspirants - 09-04-2008, 09:39 AM

From my experience I can say much that in my preps the lectures never helped me much at IMS......but the TEST SERIES rocked!! I feel in my opinion atleast that u can study at home easily if u have the right material at home without classes and all that but test series is what makes the difference....
If u r the guy who wants immense practice and feel that u r ready for tests early a good few months before CAT then u can take the TIME series coz they start early and have I think 30 Aimcats
If u're the guy who thinks he'll burn out (thats like me) and thinks that 8 Simcats will do along with 8 Maxcats(which r okayish not really lik simcats)....then go for IMS......I went for the latter and I know how burnt out I was after 8 Simcats so I'd recommend this (just an opinion not advertising anythin out here).....and they have "awesome" variety all 8 of them they give u a feel of that "surprise" element which the CAT is notorious for

Having said that TIME DI sections are a class apart atleast difficulty wise so that should prepare u for almost anything in DI.......Maths aint bad either.....but the V.A was not as good (debatable hmm)

P.S: Finally whatever u do the CAT is gonna be different from any paper u ha got ure hands on before, but practice u have to right? so just mix and match the above options (Im in the dark abt CL, CF, etc papers) and keep givin them mocks! cheers! ATB

With the kind of hectis schedule i have i am not able to concentrate on my own..so planning to join a institute(ims,CL or time).....I have a query ..i want to know which institute is better in terms of classroom teaching(planning to join a weekend batch)...and which institute has better course material....

I know the coaching classes only help upto a certain limit..but still they will help me in getting started. I am in Mumbai....

So kindly guide me.....
Classroom teaching- TIME I think (but this is not as important in my opinion as the 2 things below)
Course material- TIME for almost all the stuff they give,IMS not for the BRM's but for their exercise booklets and especially the WORKSHOP'S (DONT MISS THESE THEY R GOOD)
TEST SERIES- IMS.....but u can read the post above to ponder on this

hi there,
just wanted to add to this post of yours (about the CL mocks)...
i took them (as my first attempt towards CAT) last year...
i found the VA section very gud along with some great sets in DI...
maths was also above average...overall a gud test series to be combined with TIME aimcats ( as suggested by many here...)
rest you can find out in my post linked below...:-)

The SC upholds 27% reservation for OBC ignoring the creamy layer :( :(

Dont know how safe it is now to wait for another year, with only 73% seats for the Open category the competition just got tougher, if it was not tough enough :(
And with CAT going online from 2009, what is the world coming to...

SC upholds OBC quota, keeps creamy layer out
