I am new to this forum and aiming at Cat08. Working professional and joined time class on nov07. Thought of studying hard to clear cat08 but its not that easy to focus as u work, i realized it--really tough to focus on studying. Its already April and havent started my prep except attending the class that to sometimes i miss the classes.
I need to put a strategy in place as its hightime i shifted gears, looking for all ur support

Well I believe there will be quite a lot of pagals who have given CAT before......why dont we share the mistakes that we made in out previous attempts......

One from me.........last time I didn't given much value to reading habits.......specially RC......the verbal part of 2006 was really tough one........but I made it even more tougher by not practising RC up to the mark........I scored 98.75%ile in QA.......95.75%ile in DI......41.42%ile in english.........this time I am trying to go for a lots of reading.......whatever and whenever possible......

HI guys, i have just started to prepare for cat2008..i know its quite late but if i didnt make it to a good institute this time i will go for cat2009...I am working for the last 2.5 years in software industry... With the kind of hectis schedule i have i am not able to concentrate on my own..so planning to join a institute(ims,CL or time).....I have a query ..i want to know which institute is better in terms of classroom teaching(planning to join a weekend batch)...and which institute has better course material....

I know the coaching classes only help upto a certain limit..but still they will help me in getting started. I am in Mumbai....

So kindly guide me.....

hey Rohit,
i don't know what has made you think that you can't crack CAT'08.
if u prepare well (smart, not hard necessarily)...u'll definitely get into sum gud B-school...
regarding the query you have raised...the poll above on this page answers this question...rest is your personal preference...:-)

I've been following this thread from the last week and at last I'm done reading all the threads.. ah! This is a real good thread and a BIG thanks to all the people contributing here esp.,avinav, sarvshwet, gvi.shekar, freakinbubu, mirage101, ideacrash (sorry to miss the other names).
I had two disastrous CATs (2006 and 2007). Got a paltry 90.44 and 88.55 %les respectively :(. One big mistake that I've done in both the years is not following PG properly. It was recommended to me by a friend of mine who is in IIMC now. I'm sure PG is the right way to guide a person till the very last day. It makes people study HARD and I hope to be active in this thread and many others this year at least.
Have noticed quite a few things happening and want to put forth some steps that we can take just to avoid missing some basic stuffs. I will put them in front you in my next post.

Hi all aspirants...
I am amit n wud like to share my experience wid CAT....i have appeared cat thrice(2005.06,07)...However this is for all those who thnks that CAT cant be cracked....i m seriously against it...its a simple xam(though i have not been able to crack it)...u just need to identify ur week points n concentrate on it more...n also identify ur strong areas...which needs to be refreshed..
as far as i m concerned..for me DI is a cakewalk...i never practiced a ques of DI thru out my preparation for CAT....98+5ile in all the 3 yrs...
for QA...its all about identifying the right question...trust me guys i dont know anythng in algebra logorithms n geometry..(for all commeerce grad i m a commerce grad with no maths in 12th..so u can understand ki mujhe kya aata hoga) n still i have been able to secure 95%ile + in all the three attempts i gave....

the only area of concern is VA for me...i failed to score in the earlier two attempts and was not able to score gud overall as well as in english which ultimately forced to take a drop...but again english is also abt selection n more of concentration...luckily i got 90.93 this time around...n so finally thru wid IMT G....

But aspirants...my sincere advise is to go for mocks regularly...work on ur weakness...(ek section b weak hai to CAT gaya haath se...work hard on it...and above all concentrate....

and all those planning to take drop thnk again..thnk that whether will u b able to crack CAT next yr...identify ur potentials...(for me i know i may falter in english again so not taking a chance)
so just study n practice...and abhio bahut time hai...ache se padhai karo...n go to an elite b school...
