Hi All
Targetting CAT 08 after a miserable 85.55 in cat 07...

Just my two cents to the preparation, or the areas, where I felt I went wrong last year....

Even though its a long way before the mocks start,
Take your mocks seriously, go with a strategy to all the mocks and give your best shot always. Keep fixed time limits for a section and adhere to it religiously. After two or three mocks you will know if you are going wrong anywhere and you can work on your weakness (w.r.t. time allocation)

Analyse your mocks seriously. You cannot put enough time in analysing your mocks. See where you are going wrong and formulate remedies, either yourself or with the help of fellow puys
I suggest keep an excel sheet of your mock scores, if youhave appeared this year, then keep this yearss scores also. Also try to analyse the toppers score ( if you are not the topper, that is ) with your score. This may, again uncover something important, ofcourse each person is different and you cannot base your performance on someone elses, but still

One more thing I noticed was that attmepts dont count, waht counts is accuracy. So if you are attemping only 60% of the paper, ensure that you get alteast 85% of your attempts correct. This will ensure a very good percentile...

Oh...another very important thing, BELEIVE IN YOURSELF
If some other person can do it, then, so can you...

All the best...

yeah, i agree with Shekar,
its the accuracy that matters in CAT ( what i believe, in other exams too ).
i ve got to know this fact after a lot of beating this year... my mentors always used to stress on this point...but i didn't pay heed...result-i am posting in this thread... otherwise i'd have posted on the call getters threads...

one must start creating a mindset which says - I'll crack the question which i attempt...
although its a difficult thing to achieve, its the only thing that differentiates the call getters from the rest of the lot...

raghav, i totally agree with u buddy.during preparation, there r going to be highs and lows.but one needs to keep focus, and keep himself/herself motivated.after all, its all a mind game.since, we have plenty of time in hand, we shud start with our weak areas now. and to slowly pick up the momentum.

guys, one question, can i follow the GMAT's official guide for RC and Crtitical reasoning. Also, for Quants which book shud i choose- Trisha's quants or Arun Sharma?plz suggest.

Hi, I would suggest some 11 and 12 std. commerce textbooks for brushing up your basics and Arun sharma is the best as it covers the entire ambit of Quant quite comprehensively
It has some very good probs which actually appeared in my IMS mocks last year...

All the best....

Dont worry yaar, you only need to have the confidence in yourself and you can do it...there would be a hundred people out there who'll say why are you wasting one whole year take up a good job and forget about CAT....
I say to heck with these people....you think about your dream college and the feeling when you'll place your foot inside the campus for the first time....
For me its IIMB and I'll be in the clouds when I step into the college...All my dreams, all the hardwork, all the criticisms; everything will be worth it then

So all the best and beleive in yourself....only you can help yourself to get a BLACK IS [there is also shillong this year]
