2 Points :

1. Yes ... it is very much possible to overrate NIA after seeing the campus and realising the reputation it has in the industry. So first try to convert as many calls as possible and then u can sit back and decide. I have gone thro the list of options u ppl have and I feel only TISS is worth considering over NIA.

2. Lateral placement means ppl with higher work ex. gets better offers during the placement process and some bschools with big big big number of work ex ppl arranges an altogether separate Lateral placement day for ppl with work ex. So in that case only comes the question of work ex cutoff because the bschool needs to decide whether to allow u for the process or not.
But bschools like NIA with a very small batch size dont have enough ppl with higher work ex so they don't need arrange a separate placement day. And so there is no question of work ex cutoff. Then it's up to u and the recruiter. If he wants to give consideration to ur work ex and offer u better profile/salary he will do so AND if u feel that ur work ex deserves better profile/salary u will ask for it. So there is no such cutoff funda at NIA.

Areeee yaar.

Don't worry. Leave it to me. Don't call admission office on this issue.

U just come with ur first and last salary slips. And I will take care of the rest.

But .. just ... don't call the admissio office for this issue.

And my summer internship is in mumbai only so will meet u also if u want. Don't worry.

Final placements r alreadyover (in the first week of december) and I have already discussed all the details about final placements.

Talking about summer placements :

Yes, NIA does gurantee the summer placements also. Summer placements are also over long ago and this is the first time when everyone is being paid !!! Min. is 4000/month and highest is 20000/month. Majority of students are getting above 8000/month.

I am doing my summers at AON (www.aon.com). Their Indian headoffice is in Mumbai so I will be there for 2 months. And I am getting 13000/month.

I am Selected in NIA,

Can u tell me whether NIA offers hardcore Insurance or dual specialisation including some traditional Management specialisation.

Is there any other sector apart from Insurance which comes for final placement and can we apply for off campus placements.

Dont worry. U have replied ... that's enough. But still give me ur name so that I can talk to the coordinator.
I will request all of u to give me ur names for such specific problems/requests ... so that I can follow it up with the MBA department.

longlast
1. It's a dual specialization. So u take either Life Insurance or General Insurance PLUS one specialization from Finance/Marketing/IT/HR. So then it doesn't remain that much hardcore insurance specific course. Basically ... it's not M.Sc. in Insurance ... but it's MBA in Insurance Business Management (with one extra specialization in Finance/Marketing/HR/IT) ... so yes, u learn many traditional management courses as well.

2. Now about placements in other sectors ... students are asked to express their interests in other sectors and then accordingly we approach companies from other sectors. So IT sector is always there .. because they need to develop softwares for insurance/finance and hence they need Business Analysts who can guide the software developers and who can talk to the clients also ... it's very interesting work. Last year we had one asset management (mutual fund) company ... this year we had one microfinance (finance for poor people) company. So it keeps changing as per students interests and companies ready to recruit.

3. NIA provides 100% summer/final placements. But students r free to go for off campus placements also. In that case, NIA will not be able to help students if there is a dispute at the later date between the recruiter and the student.

One more news : We have increased our batch size to 75 !!!! New list has been uploaded on the website : http://niasom.edu.in/index.aspx?idp=3&idc=55
