1. It's a dual specialization. So u take either Life Insurance or General Insurance PLUS one specialization from Finance/Marketing/IT/HR. So then it doesn't remain that much hardcore insurance specific course. Basically ... it's not M.Sc. in Insurance ... but it's MBA in Insurance Business Management (with one extra specialization in Finance/Marketing/HR/IT) ... so yes, u learn many traditional management courses as well.

2. Now about placements in other sectors ... students are asked to express their interests in other sectors and then accordingly we approach companies from other sectors. So IT sector is always there .. because they need to develop softwares for insurance/finance and hence they need Business Analysts who can guide the software developers and who can talk to the clients also ... it's very interesting work. Last year we had one asset management (mutual fund) company ... this year we had one microfinance (finance for poor people) company. So it keeps changing as per students interests and companies ready to recruit.

3. NIA provides 100% summer/final placements. But students r free to go for off campus placements also. In that case, NIA will not be able to help students if there is a dispute at the later date between the recruiter and the student.

One more news : We have increased our batch size to 75 !!!! New list has been uploaded on the website : Final Selection List for MBA Batch 2008-2010.

Thanx Boss,

Can you tell me about the placements in the insurance sector,
Regarding Designaion,Nature of work,Organisation etc

Akash ... What exactly do u want to know abt admission process?

Longlast ... in Insurance sector ...

we broadly devide recruiters in Life and Non-life companies ... because one is to specialize in Life or Non-life.

Another division is underwriting companies v/s broking companies. Underwriting companies are normal insurance companies. In these companies u get profiles of sales, marketing, operations, investments, customer care etc. Designations r Assistant Manager.
Broking firms are huge corporate brokers and consultants. There u maily get sales job but it's corporate selling. So money and work both r very good.

Once again u missed to mention what do u want to buy !!!!!!! ha ha ha ...

I assume it's laptop. U need to buy the laptop. However, many students come here without laptop and they teamup with other classmates who want to buy similar kinda laptop and then they go for a bulk deal. Otherwise also, it's always better to buy as late as possible because the prices of electronics goods keep falling ... plus ... u will get to know exactly what kinda laptop is required.

About uniform ... yes we have a uniform ... which we wear on some special days like placement interviews or any special occasions when being in formals looks appropriate. Otherwise anything goes.

Once all students have pay their fees, then only the next process of informing students about joining details will begin. So u will be informed about the date of joining, things u need to bring with u, things u will be provided with by NIA, etc.

[quote=k_patel;1032958]Akash ... What exactly do u want to know abt admission process?

Thanks k_Patel for the information.

I know few students who are working in ICICI Pru as a UNIT Manager after completing their MBA from XYZUV college.
Their job is to form Agents circle, monthly target and similar job,,

I am sure NIA does not offer these types of work profile ??

Waiting for ur response ??

Those who r now rcving their selection emails are requried to first send the DD of 25K and then immediately the final selection letter and other loan related documents will be sent to them. No need to separately request for the documents.

Longlast : Insurance co recruit students from other MBA coll also. Now the students from avg/below avg coll are mostly given the job of handling the direct sales ppl and franchises etc. (which u have mentioned ... and u r scared of ... ha ha) ... to be more precise their designation is Executive/Senior Executives.
But students recruited from top class MBA coll surely get better job profiles ... but if the student himself is interested in sales then he will be given the task to look after corporate sales (which is not as messy as retail sales) or he will be handling a bigger team / area for retail sales ... and his designation will be Asst Manager ... and accordinly salary will be more. And NIA falls under this top class coll category as far as insurance is concerned. So don't worry.

Yeah, I will not say that NIA is the gr8est coll but surely a better option than these 2 collages once u have made ur mind to take up a sector specific course.
