Hi there,
(do check previous posts too-u wud get a better idea on how to go abt gd/pi)
Anyways, this is for all those new comers to this thread.
GD:
-There would be 8-10 members in a group.
-Topic would normally be common to all candidates(meaning nothing specific to someones core area-GD topics so far has not been ever techinical)
-Topics might be concered to current affairs(two yrs back-my topic was Indo-US nuclear deal). Read through Hindu,Business Line,Business World(shud b sufficient).Topics may also be abstract(mainly HR topics, it can be about ethics).Comment on the education system, An MBAs salary is not justified

.
-You would also be required to give a page writeup abt what was discussed in the GD.(Dont write ur thots, just give ur summary of what happened during the discussion)
-Guess the GD is for 20 min.
-Never be a stereotype(everybody is smart out there, and everybody knows that the other person is trying to be smart), so ur attempts to explicitly show that u r trying to be a leader or grab attention may not work. All this have to be done in a very subtle way-ur body language(non verbal communications) have to be used to the fullest extent.
-Its always good to start and summurise the GD, but dont flounder the opportunity.
-If u r not too sure abt the topic, it iss better to observe others for a few seconds and then pass ur comment accordingly.
INTERVIEW: FRESHER: Questions would be based on ur academics. Expect the interviewers to know anything and everything abt ur course and specialization(be it biotechnology, hotel management, agriculture or Neural network). The point here is that- these panelists wud have seen atleast a 1000 of us before, so they wud exaclty know what questions to ask.
WORK-EX: Questions related to ur work(any kind of industry).Depending on the panel u may also be asked how u went about handling work place related issues. You may be given a situation and asked to react. Latest trends with regard to your work(they evaluate how updated u r). You
may not be questioned on acads but can be asked the reason for choosing that stream.
WORK-EX & FRESHERS: Current affairs, your view on a particular news/situation, why MBA?, Why MBA after these many years in work? Why BIM?, What if u dont get through?
Raason for break in studies(in case),your interests etc..,
TIPS:
-Never show your arrogance but be firm and show a positive attitude. If the panel is in disagreement with ur opinion, dont give up too easily. Though after a couple of attempts by u to ascertain ur point(that is aided by facts/statistics)-if the panel is still in disagreement, then u better give up, only for the reason to give due respect to the panel and not in agreement to what they say.
Dont try this tactic if u urself know that ur argument is baseless. It may back fire.
-Go to the interview room with the mindset that only questions for which u know the answer wud be asked.Your mate knowing something that u dont know doesnt mean u r a duffer. The panel understands that u have ur own strengths and evaluates u based on that.Say a 'Dont know' for questions that seem to have come from martian land.
-Make sure u have the attention of both(!?) panelist, make eye contact consistently.
-Be smartly dressed, dark pants with light shirts is a safe bet.Tie,blazer is optional-wear them if u feel u look better in them and that gives u an edge.
Hope this helps,ALL THE BEST
Regards,
Dinesh
