Nice to see the new thread initialized for the batch of 2010.
Answering a few queries... even if someone does come up with an approx figure for the weightages, it will be a mere speculation. These are details which are never disclosed and there is no black book specifying that 40 % of ur admissions depends on parameter A and another 20 % depends on parameter B.
1. More weightage to quants ?
Even I heard so before coming to NITIE. While the authenticity of the statement cannot be verified, all I can say is that NITIE accepts only engineers and so there is no foundation course in mathematics or for that matter even a basic quantitative method course in the curriculum (which is a part of curriculums of most other ivy league b-schools). You have Business Statistics, which requires a prior knowledge of probability, functions etc. So a high quant percentile wud definitely be desirable. However people with lower quants percentile have made it to NITIE.By lower I mean mid- 80s.
2. Sectional Cut-offs?
Again no concrete official data. Based on past data, you can infer that there are no sectional cut offs as such if your overall %ile is very good. But at the same time dont expect to get a call if you have 65 odd percentile in one section and a 99 overall.
3. Weightages to CAT score, GD, PI...
CAT score will give you a call. After that it is your GD and PI that will take you through. People with lower percentiles have ended up with a higher merit rank and vice versa. However, at this level of competition, you cannot prove yourself to be exceptionally better than the rest. You will always have people in your "bracket". So once you are in a bracket, and let's say a situation arises when the authorities have to pick 6 from a basket of 9, what would be the most logical thing to do? Look at the CAT %iles?

Yes, it is one of the more probable criteria than others. Others may include your background, work ex, gender, acads and many more. Batch diversity is very important.
Hope that answers the questions. Any further queries may be posted in the same thread or directed to Team IMPACT.
