hi Deeps,
i am a first year student at NITIE (PGDISEM) and here is a brief profile of the PGDISEM course at NITIE.

PGDISEM is a sustainability focused program which was introduced in 2000 as result of continued association and fruitful interaction with leading Indian business houses.
PGDISEM course basically serves the EH&S cell (Environment, Health and Safety) that most of the corporates have these days with core focus on sustainability. There are many aspects associated with this course and lot many dimensions are getting added as industies are realizing the importance of environment and safety. (Eg. corporate sustainability reporting)

The different type of sectors that one can look for and the job profile associated with that are as follows:
1. Manufacturing Industies like Asian Paints, Cadbury, Tata Motors etc. which focus on environmental, enegy and safety management.
2. Consultancies like KPMG, Ernst & Young, PWC are highly into environmental consulting to different corporates.
3. Carbon Finance and Carbon Trading in firms like Co2e,E&Y etc.,
4. In-house CDM project development in firms like Cargill Foods,Reliance etc.,
5. Audit & Certification firms like RINA Consultancy, DNV for internal and external environmental audits.
6. Financial and Funding Institutions like ICICI bank, HFDC bank for evaluating the environmental imapct of the projects they are funding.
7. IT industries like Infosys and others which are into software development for safety and have integrated EH&S into ERP.
8. Petrochemicals like Castrol, Bharat Shell, etc for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), environmental policies, safety management etc. which have been made mandatory by Govt. of India.
9. Pharmaceuticals like Aventis Pharma, Novaritis, etc.
10. Students also have the option to go for fields like Operations and SCM.

Erogonomics is an upcoming field in this area and NITIE has the only TIFAC-CORE and CEEHFE in India.

This is not an exhaustive list and there are many green fields to explore.
Some of the terms may be dicey and you can do the googling for them.
This is the only course of its kind in the whole of south-east Asia. The offers made to batch of 2007 include exciting profiles like EHS,Carbon Finance,CDM etc.,

we are in the process of summer placements and some of us have already been placed in Ernst&Young and Asian paints. We have a company called CantorCO2E that might come shortly... will keep you updated on the final summer results

PM me.. or post here in case you need further information.

Cheers,
Anup.

So,now my overall aggregate is 59.xx but my degree is of first class(60+) and it is very well stated on my degree that "I have completed B.E. in first class(division)".
So,Am i eligible for NITIE application or not since i lost out to applying to JMET(IITs) since they ask for overall 60+ aggregate and explicitly mentioned this in advertisement.

Is anyone listening?
I thought someone would come up with a line or more on it.
This is something serious yaar.
If anyone can help in the same regard.

Hi Friends,

Regarding a few queries that has been posted:

The admission requirements include a first class in your Engineering. If you produce a certificate stating the same you are eligible. Some universities differ in their percentage marks regarded as first class. Hence a certificate from the respective university stating that the aggregate percentage implies a first class will be necessary and sufficient.

As far as queries related to PGDISEM courses are concerned please refer to post #31. Anup has given a detailed description about the course and various career opportunities available.

Re: NITIE - 2008 -2010 Admissions Queries - 03-10-2007, 12:21 AM

In our incessant efforts to streamline the admissions, an online admission process has been introduced starting this year.

There is an online application form which needs to be filled in by the candidates. After the required information has been given, a printout of the form has to be send to NITIE along with a DD of Rs. 1000/-, drawn in favour of NITIE, Mumbai. Admission brochure would be send to the candidate after the DD is received by the institute.

Candidates can also apply be sending the draft first, receiving the brochure and then sending the completed application form, attached with the brochure, back to NITIE.

Important Dates

Online Admissions / Issue of application forms begins 08th Oct, 2007
Last date of receipt of completed forms 30th Nov, 2007

Please Note

1. The admission procedure is the same for PGDIM, PGDISEM and PGDITM.

In the application form, preference order for these three courses has to be mentioned. There will not be separate cutoffs for these courses. The cutoff will be common. Selection will be based on your preferences as well as on your background.

2. CAT score is to be submitted online/by post after the CAT results are out.

3. Original CAT score card and call letter would be required at the time of GD/PI

There was a query regarding PGDITM course. I am a first year student of PGDITM course in NITIE and would like to shed light on the programme and what's in for a person interested in joining the course.

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (PGDITM)

This programme aims at developing best-in-class managers who understand the business processes better and are able to leverage information technology to bolster business in any organization.

The course structure is the same as rest two management courses offered by NITIE (PGDIM & PGDISEM).
The course is divided into 7 modules, wherein the 4th and the 7th modules are 2 months and 4 months internships programmes.
There is a healthy mix of general management subjects and ones which focus on information technology. The students get to choose electives to develop functional knowledge in areas of finance, sales & marketing and SCM.

The course incorporates University Alliance Program with SAP Labs allowing students to better understand various SAP modules.

PGDITM programme has become the cynosure of the industry in a very short span of time. The summer placements of the current two batches have been huge success stories. Companies like E&Y, Intel, IBM, P&G, Standard Chartered, Cognizant and others have shown interest in the batch and offered profiles ranging from consulting to sales, from business analyst to business development.

This is just a beginning a journey which would see us scaling new heights of success.
Be a part of it.
