2. Do companies offer consulting job roles in operations.
3. I have a engineering degree in Industrial production and have a work ex of 17 months in IT sector(Infosys). Can i sit for lateral placements with this amount of work ex and if not would this work ex give me any advantage if i sit for the placements.
4. Is it true that the kind of salary that is offered to students who specialize in operations
is quite less than those who do it in finance. If true what could the average salary be for operations post graduates |
1. One of the initial purpose of NITIE's establishment was to offer SCM and Operations consultancy to the Govt. of India. It later grew in size with the MDP, PGDIE, PGDIM, ITM, ISEM courses starting up. All the dream FMCGs open up their SCM profile at NITIE. The job profile might range from procurement to demand planning/forecasting.
2. SCM consulting is also offered by many firms that come down to campus. You may go through the website for details. Companies like Miebach Consult. ve looked at NITIE as a potential avenue for recruitment. Consults offer profiles like warehouse design, plant layout etc.
3. 17 months wont qualify as laterals, u wont get any edge bcoz of this work ex of urs in placements. Laterals is a separate process that happens before CRP.
4. Unless u make ur cut into a really big IBank or banks like HSBC, ur salary will be in the same range as that of the FIN guys... and sometimes even more.
Graduating from NITIE will draw immense respect in the industry and a few things are always taken for granted. How did such a brand get built?
- Awesome faculty base for Operations
- Immense industry exposure, real life recent examples discussed in the class by the profs.
- As many as 9 papers in Operations/SCM
- Alumni base which has set very high standards in the past
- The operations and scm base is so strong that it creates a perception of other specializations not existing in NITIE; however that's only a perception which is quickly changing with firms opening up there S&M profiles for placements off late.
