No buddy, no one is offended by your posts. But you could have been more clear about your doubts in the forst post itself. That would have been better.

Coming to your query, there is no other end of the tunnel as such. An Underdog may have any scores, any amount of fluctuation in scores. That's why he is an underdog, who is not expected to score very high, but may actually manage to do that. There is no minimum score criteria here. Only point is that he'she should believe that he/she can do it on the day that matters, come what may.. The only restriction we have using mock scores is that - People having ranked below 100 more than once in mocks are not underdogs (Although I have reservations abt this, but had to go with the tradition ).

The basic thing abt UDT is that it is for Consistently Inconsistent performers. Some consistent performers are thrown in between to keep everyone excited with their performances, and inspire the remaining members to perform better.

Guys ... Having a rank below 100 twice or thrice shouldn't throw anyone out of the team ... Have an overall picture of the candidate before deciding whether to include or drop him out. Seriously speaking, what is inconsistence?? Someone scoring very high in a section and very less in the immediate mock is also inconsistent

I am not sure what is the definition of an UNDERDOG here ...
Someone who couldn't put up his best in the mocks is also an UNDERDOG
Be it a 98%ler who want to be among 99+ category or a sub 90%ler who want to be among 95+ category ... Rest all upto the selection committee ..

hi puys,
yesterday i could not send in a detailed application:

- i am consistently inconsistent.
- that part is visible from my scores
opensimcat - 99.5%
free aimcat - 69.7%
simcat 1 - 97.65%
maxcat 1 - 98.4%
maxcat 2 - 99.6%
simcat 2 - (mostly 60 odd%)

my %ile curve looks like some mountain range
on my day i can be exceptional but at the sme time i can bomb out as usual.
i think i have the perfect qualities of an underdog

But NOV 18 will be my day

Sure this one clears the clout .. thnx fr a lucid xplaination .. fine il too jot down my inconsistent scores .. and the pinch is last yr too i had 58% to 95% in TIME .. though in CL open i had a 170 rank .. yet got 99.XX in CAT .. so its all on the D Day ..

OK.. Hope i will be allowed to answer that on behalf of the judges, in my capacity as a UDT member last year.

Yes, all the criteria you have mentioned do qualify for an underdog. But you see, the judges will want to put up the strong team among the underdogs. And by strong team, i am not meaning someone who is more underdog than others, but someone who they think can perform on the day. After all you are competing with the DT and BBLT too this year an you would want your team to win. So, the judges will look into all these things, before selecting the team, have no fear of that.

I really wonder why that statistic is needed? The number of ppl in IIMs from this UDT team can be more than ours anyday (at least thats what i hope)

On basis of that, I will like to nominate myself for UDT 2007

My Mock performances stand between me and UDT again. But at the end of the day, those mock scores are nothing but pure rubbish, might give some solid boost to one's ego - nothing else. What matters is the passion - to excel, to prove oneself on the big stage. I have that (Can vouch for that, inspite of 3 failed attempts). So, I would like to rest my case here.. I want to be in the UDT, as a player or as a coach (or as a captain, if u feel the captain should lead the team from front till the final day at least . Can't comment on 18th nov, for obvious reasons).


At the end of the day, doesn't matter whether I am a part of the team or not. My heart will always be with UDT..

Do not worry about the selection criteria ( judges have the final say )

Worry about this

- Why are you an underdog ?
- Why should you be in this team ?
- Do you have what it takes to make this team ?

The nominations are open for quite some time now, so do not worry about posting early ... no prizes or extra marks for that
