4 interviews,
SCMHRD - GD round cleared, ousted in the interview, no waitlist either.
SIBM - horrendous GD, good PI, ranked 210-330/1700... no waitlist either.
FMS - 98.9%ile.... screwed up extempore big time...nothing
MDI - good GD, ordinary PI, WL -1011 as good as nothing.

Had never attended a b-school interview before, and hence was never looked upon by a critical eye. It has been an interesting process, and have learned a lot of new things, as well as things about myself I was unwilling to accept. Made a lot of friends in the process, mostly in this thread.

Have not been posting much of late, and it would probably continue(read very busy). But would keep a tab on this thread to know where my mates are heading. You will know it by my 'thanks' below your post.

Hearty congos to abhay and ordinary congos to mac, harshad, rjt, somname, veri, ashish, cimba who would not want this call really bad.

Haven't heard from CAT 2007 for a while now.... do try contacting him.

To me, you are the most deserving candidate missing out this year. Rest assured, your turn will come. Life evens out. You have the best example in front of you - Harshad.

Every season results in some casualties. This year, it was your turn. I know not everything is fair in life, but somehow I also feel that it's not gonna end as it is now. I will not advise you, you are too good for that. But somehow in your season, I see my season 2006. It's completely your decision and I am sure you will shine in anything you do. But I am also pretty sure that somewhere down the line, an MBA from a Top college (if not IIMs, then something better than IIMs) will happen. ATB buddy.

My status at MDI PGPM is WL 39.. I wish it were a clear cut case of
For now, it is

Groan or grumble at my post, but hv a pep talk with the so-called man in the mirror.. go thru ur own posts, especially those on mock threads and the team threads.. nobody can inspire u any better.. to quote the title of a bestseller, AWAKEN THE GIANT WITHIN

Yeah yeah I know spammy, you did not want to be dragged into any more conversations but I couldnt resist posting for a great friend that I have made at PG in his team thread.

Well spammy, you and I knew which way the results would go for us this year. So I have to say that its gone pretty much according to plan. Dude it simply means that u r too good for MDI(no disrespect to the insti ) and IIMA beckons you in 2009. I know that you will tell pretty much tell the same regarding me but u very well know that I have run out of gas with regards to preparing for an all out MBA entrance exams once again. I know it is a compromise but hell am I going to make it the right choice

It reminds me of this quote - 'No decision is the right or wrong decision. You have to make the decision and work like mad to make it the right decision'

Dude, i still cannot forget what you told me before the FMS intrw that we attended (we shall keep that a secret for the others here ). It has been a roller coaster ride and I am sure as hell that you are going to make it big in cat 2008.

Here's a heartfelt ATB to you from me

PS- Most imp, dont lose that carefree attitiude buddy. I am telling u , that is ur USP.

Ciao,
Kusnoor.

Hello !

It sure feels very bad to see what you are going through, because I've been through it myself.

Just hang in there, mate. Thats all I can say. Sometimes, things are not meant to be. And sometimes, they just are. This year, I am convinced of this. I personally dont think there was any remarkable difference this year in my interviews as compared to last year. Statistics, as they say, rarely reveal the truth.

As bad as things went for me last year, I can now look back and say, at every moment, something did go my way. I got atleast an IMT convert... would have been really screwed mentally if i hadnt got that.... was jobless.. and then, when i decided i was not taking IMT-G, i got a job in 2-3 weeks. Those weeks were bad, but atleast I had IMT-G as a backup. Just find out what your backup is, and take strength from that.

I honestly believe that many times, god is out there trying to test you, to see what you are made of. I know one thing.... that whatever it is, I'll never throw in the towel easily.

As they say ' You fail not when you don't succeed, but when you give up.'

Congos to all the MDI converts ! We seem to have a long list here And all the best to those on the w/l. Anything under 500 is pretty much sureshot, unless the IIM results really get stuck up.

Cheers,
Harshad

Re: PG Underdogs Team (UDT) '07 - 17-04-2008, 01:06 AM

Sorry guys.. Got back late after celebrating my first convert in 2 yrs wid a fellow puy (diffraction )

Hearty congratulations to rjt, somname, harshad, mac and best wishes to veritas, nitin and abhay to clear the WL.

An MDI final call may not matter to many. Not to me though.. I don't think I have ever been this happy in recent times. Because the uncertainty has ended. Even if I don't convert my IIM calls again, I will still do MBA next year (MDI).

Last year I couldn't make it even to the PGPM waitlist (120+300 out of the 900 odd candidates who were called for the gd/pi!! ). So a confirmed call this year has been extra special.

Thanks to all my UDT mates

CAT'06: 99.41 - 4 IIM calls - IIM I WL - 0 final call

CAT'07: 99.74 - IIM I final convert
