@hameed on DT thread mentioned that BBLT and DT teams were formed on days when India was rocking on the cricket ground... so do we expect a rocking semi and final in 20-Twenty series by India? :lookroun:

Jokes apart, I would like everybody, irrespective of whether he is in or out of the UD team to participate in the discussions that happen out here.

I am writing this post with mixed feelings.While i consider myself to be worthy of a place in UDT, i am also aware of the huge responsibilty that would lie on my shoulders (incase selected) to carry forward the UDT baton.

To be honest, the primary reason for this post is the UDT thread last year.I was in complete awe of the thread and that was the singlemost reason for me coming back to PG every now and then.I must also confess that, while i was a frequent visitor of the thread(especially during the gd/pi phase), i never directly commented(other than bugging tati bhai a couple of times) simply because i didnt think my posts would do enough justice to the thread. With an year gone, a not so bad performance last year and some hard work behind me, here i am trying to push my case

I have always performed decently on the academic front. Was among the school toppers, both in 10th and 12th.Was infact, also awarded a scholarship for my performance in 10th.After the 10th standard, like every other student, i ended up preparing for IIT-JEE.Not because i was very very keen to do engineering(infact i didnt even know what it was) but because i wanted to be an IITian..to be one of the selected few to study in one of the best colleges in the country.Somehow i made it to JEE,but with a rank not worth a mention. I wanted to give JEE another short, but with a set of reluctant parents(and apprehensive grandparents), i ended up joiing DA-IICT(Dhirubhai Ambani Institute for ICT, Gandhinagar). Since the day i joined daiict, i knew i would do an MBA, because somewhere deep inside the dream to be among the best had remain unfulfilled. But it was here that things started to fall in place, i really enjoyed all the business electives we had and the oppurtunity to don multiple roles,be it being in the sponsorship committe for the tech fest or the founder of the college social service club or even the convenor of the placement committee, to not only understand the nuances of team work but also convert MBA(form the IIM's)-a compulsion into MBA-a natural choice.

The mock cats last year werent very flattering for me(never crossed 95%).But tht didnt deter me to fill only the cat,xat and fms forms. The last one month saw considerable effort on my part, ensuring i get respectable(if not good) scores. Ended up getting 97.xx% in CAT(my supposed strength VA did me in),98.xx % in XAT and an FMS call.Needless, to say i didnt convert any of the calls.

Started off afresh this year, with the only objective to be into the IIM's.Having completed my btech(with a CGPA of 8.99), i turned down some of the other jobs i had and have joined a (sarkaari) IT company,so that the job is less taxing and allows me to focus completely on CAT. My sole priority till now has been to improve my scores in QA and i am quite satisfied with my performance.QA, my nemisis in the mocks last season is supposedly my stregth this year.
I wouldnt by any chance call my mock cat scores this season to be the ideal ones, but have had the fortune of clearing all the sectional cutoffs in the 13mock cats(8 AIMCATS and 5 PreCats) i have undertaken.
In the AIMCATS,though i have never been into the top 100, i have managed consistent scores with 3 98.xx, 1 97.xx, 3 96.xx and 1 95.xx.

Have been getting better percentiles in the precats(cf) with 99+ % in each of the Precats i have undertaken(including 99.96 in the first one), but considering the relatively less number of people who take these tests, hope this doesnt serve as a disqualification criteria..

There is a lot of scope to improve my scores(especially the overall scores)..explore new strategies and come up with a much better performance.Considering the very high stakes this time, really tough competition and cent percent scope for improvement, i am truly an underdog..

Moreover, I strongly believe tht, though its the performance on the d-day that counts, we should always give our very very best and it is here that UDT fits perfectly into my scheme of things.

Oye Junta..Coach is a more responsibile person & should have lots of spare to think...So, I may not have that much time due to so many factors...Iam happy to be a part of the team + Arun Unkhil would be the ideal coach...

this is my first time for apply fr udt,
this year upto that time i hve given only one mock frm ims and got only 67 percentile with negative score in verbal , 95 percentile in di,
last year i hve scored 95.4 percentile, di 97.5, quant 95.4, verbal 58.
in cat 05 i hve scored 88.9 percentile 99.45 in di, 58 in quant, 61 in verbal.
i m an average person frm a middle town chhatarpur, completed my study frm there, and then cme to lko, to try myself, learning frm starting , hearing frm person to person that i m nt fr this, i m just fr my family shop, but now i know that ,
that cat 07 is made fr me, i knew that in mock's my performance is nt gud, but i know that i hve that much confidence, eagerness, toughness, to bet cat 07 ,i knew that its being the toughest this year acc., to speculation, but i m more tougher than that.

I think i have just managed to file my nomination before the deadline.

Anyways.. here it goes..

Why I feel I should be part of the UDT:

(i) My performances this year:

I have been taking up the TIME AIMCATs from AIMCAT0820 onwards. You can find my scores in the repository thread. After some good performances in the first few AIMCATs and a 99.93 percentile in the open SIMCAT, i have been inconsistent and i have also missed the cutoffs at times (VA - thrice; DI - once; QA - once). But i bounced back in the last AIMCAT (080 and got 99.93 percentile (AIR 21). I feel i am a perfect underdog because i am not very consistent but on my day i can challenge the best.

(ii) My performances last year:

I scored 99.41 percentile in CAT last year and 99.38 percentile in XAT last year. I got calls from IIM C (PGDCM & PGDCM) , IIM L, IIM I , IIM K and MDI. And not many expected me to do well in these exams. So i was very much an underdog last year too . I ended up being another PG disaster last year by failing to convert them all . I could only get a waitlist from IIM I and i was on WL #29 when i last kept track of it. Now this is something which not many else among the UDT nominees might have experienced. I can give some valuable inputs during gd/pi stage also (atleast what should not be done).

(iii)Strengths and weaknesses:

My strength is LR. I scored 99.80 percentile in DI section of CAT last year and 99.88 percentile in LR section of XAT last year. I have scored less than 96 percentile in DI only twice in the AIMCATs this year with 5 scores of 99.48+ percentile . My weakness is VA section. I got 37 percentile in XAT VA section!

(iv) PG and me :

I have been truly pagal for quite sometime now. I remember the number of hours i used to spend going through various threads on PG last year without preparing for gd/pi! My aim was to get into the PG Dream Team this year but i couldn't perform consistently well. And being an underdog and achieving the goal is something which will give me more satisfaction and happiness!

I am attaching an EXCEL sheet of my AIMCAT performances. It has all the possible details including sectionwise percentiles and all.

I hope i will make it to the UDT. And i sincerely hope that at no point in this post do i come across as boastful. A place in the UDT is at stake and i had to mention all my positives!

Well! I guess, i am not late here.

It's been much surprising when i came to know about BBLT, DT, UDT etc from a local pg mate, though i was off for PG for almost 40 days. I logged in to PG not so before (April 2007), when i was motivating myself to appear for CAT 2007. Mainly the inspiring posts on the thread "All i want to speak about CAT" gave me a stamina and strength to build self confidence and desire to make it to the IIMs. With an avg academic background and sound extra curricular activities, i gave myself few days to think what i gonna do for the rest of my life. Fortunately, i got placed with the largest IT firm of world and World's largest R&D Service provider, at all got two offers. I was quiet happy for few days partying. But, soon i realized and came back to the same thought "what i gonna do for the rest of my life?". I reconciled my success paths and what i had done "till now".. and where my mindset leads to. I found the answer.. and thats the biggest reason why i am here.
Rest if anything special have to be mentioned.. i swear, i really don't know at this time frame, lot of things have to be done before i finally make it to my destination.
I just wanna crack it!
The rest is stored in future, so lets be there to see it.... continuum... certainty!

To be frank, I am not a regular student for mocks. I haven't joined any mocks. I took Free AIMCAT and Open SIMCAT and scored around 90 %iles in both of 'em scoring not so well in DI and QA and performing pathetically in VA/RC. People often say, Mocks.. u must join any one of them...i wished, i could have joined one... but i just was running short of money.. and decided not to join. But let me say.. i am taking almost every mocks in my room itself... and analyze my paper on aimcat threads. Still the scores compared doesn't reflect great %iles.. but yes.. i realize that, i am nearing the optimum mark one day and i never am letting my moral to go down with these pathetic scores. I feel DI/LR as my strongest section and QA.. needs some speed practice.. VA/RC ..remarkably improving these days. Looks ... it will be better in coming days and best on my d-day.

As being an expert pagal (though, my posts doesn't reveal that expertness).. i do nominate myself for UDT'07.

My call----
time test series , and for that any particular test series, is not alone sufficient to gauge ur performance and prepare u for all type of scenario.


reason being the paper pattern and levels are different for different institutes, and u never know this yr cat`s pattern will be similar to whom.........

so take tests (atleast 2 each) from atleast 3 institutes so that u arent shocked on the final C-day
