October first week until UDT-07 .... I can't wait that long ... wot say puys ????

Why are we waiting until october? Is it because we need to give a fair chance to puys taking IMS Simcats ? Last year how many UDTians took only SIMCATs?

Someone who is really really enthusiastic should have taken the photocopies of some other test series. Isn't it? (am talking about guys who have enrolled for test series like IMS who haven't conducted many) Am not questioning the commitment of you guys sorry If i sound a bit harsh All I wanna say is post whatever u have done until now for cat-07 in ur nominations ....

There are already 37 nominations by now(Thanq Greenspan ) !! Few more say another 15 serious nominations .. and that would be enuf to pick a nice bunch

Prem bhai we need to advertise ... lest I am sure there will not be much activity here ... in the coming few days too

Wooh!! Helluva post!! I know am spamming here but the Strict limits on one post per nomination could have well been the dampener...At the same time, I dont thing there's any need to rush forming an UD Team. I understand puys' impatience in this regard but this period could actually be a chance for guys like me who've had a volatile mock season(good some days, bad some other days) to show some sort of consistency and give pg one good reason for me to be in UDT.. Until then, we can discuss our performance, share some inputs(if there is adequate response) and wait for junta to pour in with more nominations.

Fellow puys, if ur scores are preventing u from nominating yourself for UDT'07, just check my scores in the repository.

Quite a few days since the start of UDT 2007, and the response as already mentioned here has been lukewarm at best. If we look at the reasons -

1. BBLT - As someone has already pointed out, BBLT 2007 is playing the role what UDT 2006 played. Starting early surely helps in these cases. Also, people contribute the most when they are under no pressure. Last year, UDT was the platform, since there was only one more team, that also the Elite one (Dream Team). This year, the prevailing idea seems to be like - DT is the Elite thing, UDT is the thread for the ones who just missed out on DT and BBLT is for general public. This is where the confusion lies. UDT, as already mentioned by the veterans, is not for DT rejects. It is a totally different entity, with no linkage to the DT. If anything, selection criteria of UDT looks to select those with poor mock performances over those with consistently good mock scores. I would request puys to take a look at UDT 2006 to get a better idea.

2. Constructive Ideas - I would like to Thank Avay for bringing this forward. While BBLT may have used the platform built by UDT 2006, it has built upon that platform quite admirably. The way they have formed the team, then the way they are having their team activities, speaks volumes about the objectivity with which they are approaching the team building exercise. This, I am afraid is missing from UDT 2007 so far. Problem is that may not be possible without the team being finalised. In view of this, I think the dates for formation of UDT should be brought forward. Idea behind the current dates was to give IMS SIMCAT students enough time to showcase their ability. But now I think that was a mistake. Mock scores as such are not that important in case of UDT. They are the most important criteria for DT selection. In view of this, I propose to bring forward the selection of UDT.

Proposed Dates -

Last Date of Nomination - 21st September
Announcement of UDT - 24th September.

Since this is a change of date, I would like to take the opinion of the mass here before actually going ahead with it. So puys, please pour in your views.

but just thot ki the problem has been that all the nominations are for themselves....no one is giving an entire team like they do it in DT ??
is it not allowed here??? it would seem absurd not to allow......
one can be a self proclaimed underdog...but if some1 else thinks that u r an underdog dat is a booster isnt it???..really dat could do this thread some gud????

I am little ambitious, but that's how one shld be....
I don't mind if I am not selected for UDT(though UDT will miss an Underdog ) , I would treat this post as a subscription to this thread and will take part in this actively.

hi guys,wd like to nominate myself for the udt-07!!!!!!

my journey so far,gave cat 06,got odd 70% ,was depressed for some time but then did some self evaluation & understood dat i hv d potential of cracking cat,just needed to prep in d right way.........

joined time & ims test series dis year,gt 94% in aimcat opener,but den went down to 60% in d next one,from there on,its been a silent recovery for me,from 60-70-,den 70-80 & nw im arnd 90% ,hopefully will better my scores in d cuming mocks,in simcats,its arnd 84-86 %,va is letting me down dis yr but i think i`ll be able to improve in it(last yr,it used to be my strongest )

the point im trying 2 make is dat regardless of d fact dat everyone (from family to frends ) discarded me as a potential aspirant, their attitude is nw propelling me to move up d ladder & make my mark,hopefully shd reach the upper %iles in d cuming mocks,thereby(i guess) making me a complete underdog(in all aspects,whether inconsistent scores,let downs etc) & dats y i want to be in dis team!!!!!!!!!

i hv been a silent reader at pg but after going thru all over d thread i know dis is my place ,from nw on will be regular at pg & wd try 2 contribute in d best possible way...................

Guys thot of posting this after the team has been nominated but i think tht wud be quite late for this post . hence posting it now and i guess this is the best thread to post it as all the underdogs ll visit this thread at least once n can benefit from this . Enuf of bol bachan now strt to the topic . I wanted to share my prep strategy which has helped me till now with u puys n I had to wait this long so tht I can be sure of wht m writing

QA- It has been my nemesis . I never used to cross the cut-offs So most of this post ll concentrate on QA strategy.This time the only thing I did was to get down to the basics and completed the topics one by one religiously. I dint leave any topic coz if any easy qs came from tht topic I cud attempt it .Now this has helped me immensely and I guess if u r weak in qa like me n r dedicated to work hard thn take any material and start revising the basics. It wud hardly take a month to revise everything and u have another month to attempt past mocks .While attempting thm set a time limit of 45 mins or as much time u ll be spendin in the actual CAT n try to attempt as many sitters as possible. The best way to do this is to set some time for each page . Like 10 mins for each page if thr are 5 pages. Thn go thru as many qs as u can .This way u ll get almost all the sitters which ll take u near or in most cases past the cut-off . If u r stuck with sum qs leave it n if u r not feelin like attemting tht page leave it to go to another page. I generally go to the last page n start doin back wards if I get stuck in 4-5 consecutive qs .This will relieve the tension n it ll be like beginning a new section
I believe if u follow these thn qa wont be a prob to u n dont bother about moc cat percentiles while u r revising the basics. they r bound to improve once u r done .By following this strategy I have been able to cross the qa cut offs quite often So work hard n ATB .

DI-I believe tht the only way to crack this is to have a clear mind and some idea bout the type of qs tht ususally come. The best thing to do is to revise past mocks n I guess TIME sets the best DI qs(I hope this isnt an adv) GO thru the mocks papers n if possible CAT 2004,05 n 06 qs pprs religiously. scrutinise thm n I say devour thm. Analyse n analyse . That is the only way I think u can improve ur DI skills.
Again in the tests go thru each caselet tho it is easier said thn done n try to pick up the easy qs .If u kno u can do a particular qs but it ll take some lengthy calculations or counting thn mark it and move on to other qs .U can always come back to it .I belive with the kind of sections tht r coming in CAT DI ll take up most of ur time .But set a max limit n in no case cross it .

VA-It has never been a prob for me (touch wood) and I have been plain lucky I guess.So cant help u puys with any particular improvement strategy except saying tht be logical while answering the VA paragraph completion n hope ur luck doesnt run out on the C-day .I wud like to ask all the puys who have improved their VA skills to share the strategy for the benefit of the others.

N most imp is have faith. This may sound cliched but it is imp. After some mocks u may feel defeated n despirited.Most of us do tht as v r not consistent (thts y v r underdogs )n it has happened to me this yr also. But give ur 100% n hope for the best.Analyse tht papaer n make it as a stepping stone to ur success. U ll definitely succeed n ATB

P.S.-I wud like the past UDT members to share some light on how to spend these last 2 crucial months before CAT n wht was their strategy in these last months to max their scores. This will help all of us immensely.Coz if tht helped u ,it ll also help all the underdogs of PG regardless of whether they r in the team or not .

There is no point in pressurizing oneself .. It's is after all another exam .. Just go and give your best ... that's all
