My scores
VA 26(12 r, 10w)
DI 57(19r, 0w) delighted with 100% accuracy for the 1st time
QA 20(7r, 1w) hate myself as i cud nt remember the divisibity test for 13 and 17 in question 1-4
Total 103.
I changed my strategy drastically today, and it helped. Could use this one itself CAT.
Also thought this paper was a good pattern, definately can be expected inCAT, this pattern or the pattern of Simcat 1.
Gotta go nw. Would be glad if ppl could tell me wht percentiles i could expect.
Ciao

4:1 is the standard ratio. | There's nothing like any standard ratio.. generally, the ratio works this way tht if there are n options, the -ve marking is 1/(n-1) the marks allotted to each ques.. so -1/3 for a 4-options paper.. -1/4 for a 5-options paper.. so this paper didnt have any novelty in tht aspect.. However, ur observation of -ve marking being higher makes me recall an AIMCAT last yr wen TIME had given a 5-options paper with -1/3 -ve.. THAT was indeed a high -ve marking paper..

Yeah, speaking of -ve marking, so far Cat has implemented -1/3 and -1/4...Any of those are possible this year...Also CAT has never ever implemented the progressive -ve marking scheme (The kind followed by XAT)....This could be a possibility in this year's paper...
Also another thought which occured to me is the concept of linked Questions...This is the kind followed in GATE...Here u r given a problem with 2 Questions related to it....Both the Questions may be related to each other, or may be independent...But the catch is, u only get credit if u solve the 1st Question correctly....i.e if u don't solve the 1st Q correctly, but u solve the 2nd Q correctly, u will not get marks as u've done the 1st Q wrong...So its imperative that u get the 1st Q right...
This technique might seem a bit far fetched, but knowing CAT, anything's possible My Mock CATS have developed the habit of going to the DOGS every Sunday...No wonder they are getting ambushed brutally.... Are all the mice hibernating???????...

4:1 is the standard ratio. | A typical negative marking scheme depends upon the number of options per question.... If the number of options is 4, then the negative marking is usually 1/3 rd (1 right 3 wrongs result into a score of 0.) Likewise, if the number of options is 5, then the negative marking is usually 1/4 th (1 right 4 wrongs result into a score of 0.)
This is the usual method but not a hard and fast rule... All institutes, including the CAT committee, have the right to alter this standard of negative marking Season 2007-2008:
Results awaited: IIMs XLRI : Selected
MhCET : 99.83 (146/200)
