Nishant bhai, i remember one quote i read a few weeks back @ PG for someone who was in a similar state of mind as you were after today's mock--- and i would put it here as well--- Is it our aim to crack SIMCAT XX or AIMCAT YY???
This whole thing is a journey towards the C-day and make sure you enjoy it...make sure you look back and cherish these times when you learned, experienced and explored so many things about you... and remember for next 42 days, we will improve...we will work harder than ever before...we will remove our weaknesses and make our strengths unassailable...and WE WILL GET THE BEST RESULTS!
so, my friend, the best is yet to come...till then, let's enjoy these days...
and one day, we'll sit in the courtyard of our b-skool hostel having a sutta and remembering this very day and how we reacted to it!

AIMCAT 0805:
DI: 20 (10/5)
VA: 43 (17/
QA: 24 (11/4)
OA: 87 (38/17)

@Hameed, Nishant & Pavan:
whats up with this suicidal feeling guys? chee rup,
I second IAYF on this, our aim is not to crack SIM CAT or AIM CAT.. its our journey to 18th November.
Thank your stars that whatever you are screwing up, you are screwing up now!!!(in a way that is good)
Imagine, you are getting 99.xx %ile in all ur mocks, and the day is not far where you will feel saturated, complacent and just stop preparing! and when D day comes, you will panic!!!
do not feel bad or get depressed, learn from these mistakes, and make sure you do not repeat again. It is just a mock cat!!!!
my story in SIM CAT 4 is like this:
started up wiith QA, thinking that i will crack this time. my aim was to find 10 sitters from 25 questions, with the accuracy of 90% i will clear the cut off.
but i could attempt only 9.. 4 silly mistakes, did not read 2 easy questions properly. all my estmate went for a toss!!!!
scores went down to 13
then DI, supposed to be my strongest section, attempted 14, 11 correct 3 wrong score: 41 will have to improve on accuracy.
VA.. disaster for last two SIM CATs, was in no mood to attempt it also
still could manage to attempt 13.. bad accuracy, getting around 15 which is not great either.
At this time i am totally confused...!!!
is it that i am not preparing, is it that i am not concentrating or is it that i do not know and i am not capable of clearing CAT!!!!!!!!! | | | | | The Following 11 Users Say Thank You to jimmygoogle For This Useful Post: | ameya_ahr (08-10-2007), atshubha (08-10-2007), buck_was (08-10-2007), Greenspan (08-10-2007), hameed (17-04-2008), IAYF (08-10-2007), krsh.vik (08-10-2007), nishant_rungta (08-10-2007), Obsessed_bout_mba (08-10-2007), pavanpadekal (08-10-2007), supreetisingh (11-10-2007)

Hello PPl
Was feeling a lil low yesterday when saw scores of ppl here.I thought I had done Decent in paper But made a big mistake of not attempting all ques.Once During the paper I marked All my Unattempted ques in DI and Maths as option A But then i thought this wudnt be correct as i wudnt be able to judge myself so i erased those.English i attempted all 25.So my scores are below many ppl are but still I have analysed what mistakes i did and found out some areas to work upon specially in Maths and DI .In Maths I have realised if paper is Diff or easy i end up getting same marks, this i guess is becoz i get complacent after attempting 12-13 ques in easy paper and do not go for actual kill. This happened in CAT2006 when i attempted 11 ques and thought this will be enough but I need to do 3-4 more ques in an easy paper. And in DI i have realised I generally dont go through sets which appeared lengthy like Cash back Set yesterday which was sitter. So I need to Change this View point. But lots to learn and Lot of time in our hand friends.
Here r scores
VA-43
QA-21.5
DI-17.5
OA-82
Shud be close to 85 perc i guess.
Too cheer me up I calculated my scores Had I marked all questions unattempted as A then my scores wud look like:
VA-43
QA-39(Ther wer 7As)
DI-31(Ther wer 6As)
OA-113
But neways this aint rite. But it helped me get out of Sombre mood. | | | | | The Following 6 Users Say Thank You to mohit1984 For This Useful Post:

Let me join the party with my bit of sad story.
Yesterday i wrote precat and realized how tough an aptitude paper can get. After doing QA when i started with DI it took me some time to crack a lower weghtage set. Then panic struck and i was reading and leaving sets. Finally with th fear of getiing a very poor score i donno which part of my mind signalled me to go for flukes and thats what i did.Got many flukes wrong. Then i attempted VA and while i was doing it, i thought can anything really get tougher than this. Each question be it reasoning.poem or wotever was as tough as the previous one.The feeling during and after the test was very horrifying.
I was really fed up with the way i went about the paper, more so when i should have tried to attempt less but accurate.
Then i called up my friend and asked him to get and check the score of my Aimcat question paper as i had given the aimcat on saturday and they had kept back our Qpaper too.
Had a very paltry Aimcat.Misjudged the new scheme and hence paid the price for non attempt.
In the beginning of my paper i told to myself that if i attempt the paper normally as i do always it wont make any difference whereas others might get pschyced out and start hitting flukes. In the process attempted just 47 questions.Although my accuracy was good but this wrong judgment of how to go about attempting made the difference between 125+ and a paltry 91.
My scores.
QA=43 (16C +1W)
VA=27 (12C+5 W)
DI=21 (10C + 3W) was hoping to get all 13 correct.I still dont have the paper in my hand to find out where it went wrong.
A meager total of 91.
But I know i have to get up and walk ahead with determination more firm than ever before.
To all my friends here,Iwould say that “Arise, Awake and STOP NOT till the goal is reached !” Quote: |
Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: A desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.”
| Quote: | “Fight one more round. When your arms are so tired that you can hardly lift your hands to come on guard, fight one more round. When your nose is bleeding and your eyes are black and you are so tired that you wish your opponent would crack you one on the jaw and put you to sleep, fight one more round - remembering that the man who always fights one more round is never whipped.” | Quote: | When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit! Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure has turned about,
When they might have won had they stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow! , Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering one,
Often the struggler has given up
When they might have captured the victor’s cup.
And they learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close they were to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint to the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far. So stick to the task when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem the worst, that you must not quit! |
My friends I am sure we will all are goin g to do it on the DDay.
And as Salil keeps saying Chakk De

Getting jus around 65 (OA) and was down when i saw ppl getting 90+ and 100+.....
But its a learning....CAT might be in this format..the attempt all format..or they might come up with a new pattern..we ve to adapt to any kinda pattern and we have to formulate our strategies on seeing the paper jus before we start our exam.,(ofcourse if we get a known pattern then we can go with the strategy that had worked for us in our mocks)
I failed in that today..on seeing the phrase that "UNATTEMPTED QUESTIONS WILL BE PENALISED" i was lost...i said to myself that i ve to attempt in the same way i did previous mocks since at the end of the day its only the percentiles thats goiin to matter..(relative scores)..but something somewhere was deep inside me made me lose my nerves and i screwed Quote:
Originally Posted by jimmygoogle Imagine, you are getting 99.xx %ile in all ur mocks, and the day is not far where you will feel saturated, complacent and just stop preparing! and when D day comes, you will panic!!! | Thats another good point made....and its true especially for ppl like me who are not the regular 96 plus scorers in AIMCATs ..i got 96 last time and cause of that i didnt prepare for the whole week..(office work s one of the reason but i know its another damn excuse.)
So if we fail..its for good...Failures will always bring out the best in us
So BBLT...who didnt do well in AIMCAT 5 or SIMCAT 4...lets wake up..lets burn our A@@ and stretch until we reach the Human limits (if required) and lets not lose our determination.....
The next 2 weeks are going to be "a slog" for me......next sunday we have mock SNAP..so we have 1 additional week for AIMCAT 0804....
LETS START BELIEVING THAT WE CAN MAKE IT... If you have the belief to choose your road
If you have the courage to stay on it
If you have the conviction to surmount the rough stretches
If you do..you will find the road begins to follow you

saw two movies back to back.. didnt analyze the paper .. didn;t have the heart to look at it.. but later at 3 am .. as i just couldn't sleep, i decided to do the "WHAT IF" analysis of the paper.
What if i hadn;t taken so many guesses?
