can u pls tell me which all exams does spjain consider for admissions. Also is it for different courses or for same course(e.g. MMS and PGDM etc)

SPJ takes CAT or XAT scores for its admissions...and the admissions r fr pgdm.

Hi,

Last year, One of my friend had applied to SPJIMR.
he had 99.9 in XAT and 99.81 in CAT with good sectional break-ups.
He had marks in 80's in 10th and 12th and graduation too (NIT pass out)
With good acads with backing certis n all
+ 3 yrs of work ex in a good telecom firm
But he didnt get call from spjimr.

I wanted to know that Like other international Big B-schools.
SPJIMR shortlist applicants on the basis of their essays and SOP's.
N even with bad acads,with good essays n SOP backing one can be called
for interview call.

Hi frnd,

I think u r misinformed about the SOPs part. For the last 2 yrs, SOPs and essays wer sent out only after the shortlisting fr the 1st round of intws. So the whole idea of being selected on the basis of gud essays is false.

SPJ has a very elaborate criteria for issuing cals...the vry idea of hvg both cat & xat is that an applicant cn always hv a bad day..so atleast 1 of the 2 go wel..

Then again, even if an applicant doesnt do wel in the exams, he cud stil get a cal based on how gud his profile is...i.e things like work-exp, acads, extra currics, versatility & other achievements...so a cat/xat score by itself cannot get u cals...the emphasis is on having well rounded individuals...

So, if u r askin y ur frnd dint get a cal..the ans is that pbly thr wer a lot of ppl with a better profile..fyi, we hv ppl here with cat percntiles evn in the range of 90...but they have a lot of othr things to show !!!

I have 78 pc in 10th and 66 pc in 12th and BE from BIT mesra 65 pc

i have a query regarding the choice of specialisation for PGDBM...
if i opt for marketing,then
q1-how do i justify my choice considering that i've never been directly involved in such a profile?
q2-being an IT guy, what kind of exposure should i look for during the next one year so as to present a suitable profile for a B-skool like SPJ?
q3-should i delve into the field of marketing to get some edge?

the reason why i want to be into a marketing profile is the kind of work that i've done in my co-curriculars...and more importantly i believe i've a knack to get into this field...but i want to substantiate this ability of mine and build a suitable profile...

hi buddy,
As far as SPJ goes, its minimum expectations of a candidate fr mktg is 1 who has the knack fr maktg..hope u get wat that means...u need 2 b cogent, clear and innovative...
Historically, SPJ has bn takin a lot of freshers in mktg and finance...so a relevant exp is not really mandatory...but agn, it always helps if u hv relevant exp.

Since u say that u hv a lot of co-currics tat showcase ur mktg skills..it shud defly help..and agn, if u r vry keen abt mktg..thrs no reason y u shudnt consider a job tat exposes u to it...shud defly add value...but b sure of wat u want in terms of the specializations

Which post are you talking about , I have gone through the site, as SP Jain gives the chance to pick up speacialization from starting so wanted to get into finance , I have done NSE begineer certification and invested in mONEY mangaemnet.
