just finished deciphering the PDF
some very important pieces of info.
I think this is the first time i am seeing an institute giving individual weightages for the GD,GD summary,Pi and work ex.
(never knew summaries were so important weightage 7.5!!!! )
and as bobby said the work experience part has been dealt with brilliantly.
Was just discussing with a few friends yesterday about what the criterions could have been and within hours i see this file.
Great move towards transperancy in the admission process

Good that IIM-B came out with its rather obscure selection criteria...guess the dreams of getting into IIM-B have shattered much before the CAT itself....with a profile of 82.60 % in 10th (CBSE unfortunately), 92.20 in 12th and a meagre 76.8 in bachelors , i stand as a rejected lot...thats why i was rejected this year too inspite of clearing the sectionl and the overall cutoffs as required by IIM-B..though the percentile was not great either (98.35!!)...
so its goodbye IIM-B from my side...unless, of course, i crack a 99.995 percentile in CAT!!! When Everything Seems LOST....Remember the FUTURE remains!!! so its goodbye IIM-B from my side...unless, of course, i crack a 99.995 percentile in CAT!!! | well i dont really agree with you...realistically my analysis says with a 82.60% in 10th standard is decent(for IIMB ) you might not figure in the 90%ilers of ur 10th standard batch..(until the 10th standard C.B.S.E paper was really fundoo...no offences meant) but your 92.20% 12th standard is good and your 76.8% in grad depends upon ur college....still i will rate it as decent...so overall you stand a decent chance(any day better than mine).... if you have relevant job experience and also if you cross 99%ile barrier with decent sectionals(which i am sure you can...coz of brilliant past performance)...no body can stop you!!
i am open to look at a different view point.. | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to RISING For This Useful Post:

Well it became obvious last time that they look into grad marks.. And u really need very high marks.. So this year I was already aiming for 5 calls only.. It was/is obvious I wont be getting a B call.. The additional factors also do not help me much..
But one thing is quite interesting.. What you did in the 2 boards(10th+12th =25%) is more valuable than what you'll do in CAT(20%) !! I find that so weird !!
But its really nice that they have told everything.. No false hopes !! Started Working !!! Yayyyy !!!!! | | | | | The Following User Says NO Thank You to adisehgal For This Un-useful Post: | | | The Following 5 Users Say Thank You to adisehgal For This Useful Post:

Whoa! The PDF will make a great caselet for DI maxima, minima , standard deviation and what not.
It would be nice if they don't equate a cgpa of 8.0 as 80 % when they are taking the pains to look into things like quality of work ex etc which are highly subjective. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be.Now put foundations under them.

So, finally Judiciary has made them do what is expected from them for a long time. Also, no more answers like God knows for thr selection procedure.
The Q tht's coming in my mind presently is whether the criteria mentioned in the PDF gave any higher weightage to students from IITs, NITs, AIIMS, SRCC, NLSU n similar elite institutions in our countory viz-a-viz students from the private/low ranked colleges (no offence meant)? I'm unable to find any such thing, so it's a flaw I consider as I spent two years of my life (after 10+2) while preparing to get admission in one of the above mentioned elite institutions against getting the admission into a private college directly after 10+2! So, I think they should include weightage for such a criteria for CAT 2007 admissions thereby accompanying even greater transparency while not missing on sth that shows a true potential of a candidate. Also, I think it may help them in achieving in one way what they want through this statement mentioned in the PDF - 'IIMB emphasizes consistent and high performance in past academics'.
