Check this new doucument from IIMB for this CAT.

http://www.iimb.ernet.in/iimb/docs/PGPSelection2008.pdf

CAT cutoffs are not given - says it will be given later.

For GDPI shortlist (this is same as last year):

Work Experience/CA = 5 weight
CAT = 20 weight
10th board = 15 weight
12th board = 10 weight
Bachelors = 15 weight
Total = 65

Weights used for GDPI (changed from last year):

GD = 5 weight
GD Summary Content = 5 weight
GD Summary Language = 5 weight
PI = 20 weight
Total = 35

The work experience weight is max at 36 months and remains max for those with over 36 months - this is also changed from last year where it fell for those with over 36 months.

Quality of work experience evaluated in interview has a multiplier 0 to 2 so the max 5 weight given before GDPI can even become min 0 or go to max 10 weight.

Total Score for admission is therefore on:
on 95 for those without work experience or poor quality work experience.
on 100 for those with over 36 months of average quality work experience. on 105 for those with over 36 months of the highest quality of experience.

Hey Puys I read abt d weightages given to marks for IIMB admission.
but strangely enough they do nat make adjustments across subjects..

b'coz its difficult if not impossible to get abt 70% = marks for ppl in universities.
e.g. a student of physics from Presidency College kolkata
or economics from St.Stepens college delhi might jus get around 65% but never 85%+ marks like engr students, inspite of being a topper in class or even univ.

btw, is there such criteia for other iims ??

If i am right, then they would compare anybody's percentage based on the profile of the other students who also apply/have applied previously from the same university and course..So i presume they have a fair idea of who stands where...

I think B and I have a good look at the profile..Not sure of the others..I may be wrong here...

Not that all this impacts my chances anyways

wasn't it 10% for Bachelors and 10% for work ex ?

Anyways nothin one can do anything about .. so if u r taking other MBA exams then focus on that .. something which almost all of lose after CAT .. irrespective of how it went ..

Good luck fellas ..

well, as per website GDPI shortlist for IIMB will be out by 2nd jan

Hope to clear the cut-offs ....... The pdf is clear abt it..that unlike IIM A or C the cutoff's for IIM B will depend on performance of ppl in CAT this yr......

Hoping for the best

IIM B definitely does but IIM I im not sure it luks into the profile. My friend now in IIM C had got a cal from indore too and his acads were pretty average...82%SSC......79% HSC....62% BE.......but he got a call still.....of course he got sumthing like 99.13 percentile in CAT!!

The top companies believe this is the best profile suited for MBAs, and IIMB probably agrees with them.

the freak
i have a question for you......recently the director of IIM C openly agreed to the fact that past acads do not matter in IIM C....in fact there are people there with "highly" average acads....so when ure saying that the top companies look for students with a good cgpa or X% OR XII% etc, do u mean that the IIM C guys dont get placed? well they do!! I was just wondering..hope you dont get too agitated over this its just a query
