Hi,

Just got back from the test.

2.5 hours. 60 questions evenly divided into 3 sections. Uniform marking scheme of (+5,-2) for all questions with 5 choices.

My scores were pretty much ugh...

DI = 6
QA = 8
VA = 41
Total = 55

I usually do well in DI. And quant is bad...but not that bad. Rather rusty having done almost no practice after CAT 2005. Hmmm. Will improve in the coming mocks.

So what about everyone else?

well,it feels good to see some of the scores here...(only a few though)

my first mock after season'05 and what a shocker to start with!
all 5 markers...i mean, boss, kuch to scope choro...

maths>> the section proved what a worthless engineer I am>> 8 marks
DI>>cudn't fathom two sets at all...the sets on cricket ratings n IIM placements, saved me>>27 marks
VA>>have u ever seen such parajumbles??? got all wrong>>30 marks

so 65 in all...i hope this shock-a-locka-boom start will be the impetus i needed so badly!(but plz plz don;t give me a below 90 percentile)

Not representative of candidates' true locus standi, in my opinion..

But this kinda departure (from 'expected' pattern, and from sanity!) is expected, this being a free mock.. coaching instts often take the liberty of setting a scorcher of a paper to show off their (misplaced idea of) prowess..

To begin with, the whole idea of 5 options coupled with a +5/-2 regime was rather oppressive.. but wen it has been dished out, it shud have given the idea tht it was always gonna be a game of accuracy, rather than speed..

My scores:

QA-------6---------3------9-----45 mins (my undoing this time :neutral

DI--------9---------6-----24-----50 mins (shud go past cut-off)
Eng------17--------14----64-----55 mins (abnormal show of accuracy saved me :satisfie

Total----32--------23-----97 (lot to think n work upon)

My take on probable cut-offs:
QA - 15-20
DI - 20-25
Eng - 40-45
Total - 85-95

Shall post my doubts tomorrow..

I dont know how peoples are getting so high marks in english...... I think overall paper was Tougher than any other CATs....
Even DI was not at all just a piece of Cake...Even the Cricket set is much lengthier
I think PT peoples should understand that CAT paper is balanced...CAT peoples are actually trying to know our decision making strategy rather than deep knowledge in English and maths.....I accept the fact that CAT is highly undeterministic but still one thing is common in all their and that is their paper is balanced even if overall paper is tough.......
One might have scored 25 marks in maths if their maths is really good.....Bt is that enough.......
I know all this is based on relative scores but this is just pathetic as far as my preparation and moral is concerned
This prac cat has rather demoralise me even if my percentile may be not that bad.......
Got overall 60 marks in first paper.....25 15 20

even I am not happy abt this 'scorcher' of a paper....scores hence - maths 14, di -30, english -33....total 77...but the what i am really upset abt is the accuracy i got...just 60%...a real wake up call....
