Hi,
Thanks for replying to my query in the "Re: Life @ Great Lakes Inst. of Mgmt-Chennai" thread. I was actually looking for more specific answers to my questions.
1. I had gone through the placement report but that doesnt give a breakup based on years of exp. Can you give me a rough idea about the salary offered to an IT person with 3 yrs of exp?
2. Also I have not done much research on the profiles offered at other b-schools. I am targeting very few and one of them is Great Lakes.
Please help me on these as I am still at crossroads and have to decide on one path. Please advise.

Hi Rahul,
The median salary last year was 8 LPA and avg work ex was around 2.5 yrs. So u can be assured that for 3 yrs of work ex it is surely above 8 LPA.
Reg the profiles offered it ranged from SBA, EA, IT consultant etc depending upon work ex and horizontals. Some were also offered domain specific business analysts as we hav vertical specialisation also.
I hope this would have answered ur query....
Cheers,

Glaker | Thanks for answering my questions Glaker. I am in a bit of quandary now. The starting salary you have stated would be almost the same as what I would be earning with 3 yrs of exp in my current job. If I go for the MBA then it would not be a significant hike that I would be getting and I would have the education loan on top of it. Its a little difficult of make sense of the investment.
I have one more question, maybe you might be able to help. It is a general question and I didnt get an answer to this in the career forum. Would getting into project management take less time if I get an MBA than if I continue in the technical side?
Thanks.

Rahul | Hi Rahul,
What i meant to say is the avg salary with 3 yrs work ex wd be above 8LPA. There are few people with around 2 yrs of work ex who got salaries above 10 LPA.....It all depends upon ur performance. Its not always abt salary . It is about the profile you would want to get into after ur MBA.... We hav even ppl with more than 10 yrs of work ex from top notch companies with us.... Your profile could help me giv a specific response....
To the next query u have, it depends upon ur interest..... If u r very much interested in proj management and have the required skills, a mangement degree can help u get there faster....
Cheers,
GLaker.
