My second question is : Do the recommendors have to cite specific examples to support their stance . It is not necessary that the recommendor will be as articulate as the essay proffessional and most of them try to finish their opinions in around 100 words whereas the maxm limit is 300 words . Also you can't blame them for their hectic schedule . What do you suggest for the reco ( like word limit , structure etc ) .

Pls guide .

thnx n rgds

Hi Tarun,

My personal opinion is that the essays r meant to be written by applicants. All the essay topics are related to their personal & proffessional life. I dont understand how a professional essay writing firm can help in writing such essays. Moreover it is highly unethical on the part of applicants.

During the PI stage, the experienced panelists would easily spot out such essays. And if they spot out such discrepencies the applicants would end up on the wrong side of the line.

As for as recos r concerned we r looking for content rather than no of words. So it is perfectly ok if the recommender can bring out the points within 100 words. Ya we do understand the problems in getting the recos. We hav also gone thro the same phase last year. So we will take care of these....

All The best.

Cheers,
GLaker

GL give calls looking at OA score or it also looks at the sectional CAT score as well.

Secondly can we send the Reco's first and then submit the online application ?

Hi,
We look for overall score.

U can send the recos first & then submit ur application....
Mention the application number on top of the reco envelope...

Cheers,

Hi,
We wont contact them in their official email ids. We will contact them over phone.
If they feel they dont want to disclose their official id, its ok to edit it by pen.

Yes it perfectly fine.

2.What do you mean by the reference group mentioned in the recos...

It is the strength of the group against which ur recommender will be evaluating u.

For eg, if the recommender is ur project manager, then the ref group would be the number of ppl in ur project.

Cheers,
GLaker

Please understand that getting a call depends upon the overall admission package comprising of CAT/GMAT Score, essays, recos, work exp & GD/PI performance & not upon GMAT/CAT score only.

So, I strongly recommend you to go ahead & apply.
pb@glakes.... thank you so much for the info..

Re: Great Lakes Admissions 2008 - 13-01-2008, 06:50 PM

Hi,

I need a little clarification. 1 of my recommenders is out of India. However he says he'll mail my recommendation via DHL directly to Great Lakes. I can download and e-mail him the recommendation format. However the cover page which requires the applicant's signature would be scanned. While the rest of the recommendation would be in writing. Would it be ok ?

Will be glad if u cud post an urgent reply.

Thanks
