Re: Great Lakes Admissions 2008 - 23-11-2007, 12:55 PM

Hi Glakers...

I wish to apply to Glakes this year. My CAT07 was not a great outing i m getting mere 58 Marks ( I hope Glake dosent look for sectional scores)

I wish Seniors & other Peers help me to sail through my queries...

I have 82% in 10th & 80% in 12th (CBSE)
Engg: 74% ExTcom (degree) Nagpur Univ.
Workex of 33 mnths (31st March 200

How much chance do i stand with the above mentioned score...

Also please let me know about the LOR's & Essays
How many do we need to apply(LoR & Essays).
What should be the essays content.
Do every one get diff essays.
Please explain the process.

I m sorry for shooting so many queries.
But i feel if have any chance i cant loose it at all. From last 1yr i m chasing a dream of a seat @ Glakes.

Any comments are welcome.

dear glakers,
Hello.
I have heard that there is no fixed cutoff for glakes admission. but i need to have at least a basic idea. I have taken cat 07 and am expecting a %tile score of around 80-85%tile. I have a fulltime paid work ex of 1.5 yrs as of now as a fashion merchandiser which will be around 2 yrs when i join any mba programme.
class 10th 85%
class 12th 75%
graduation 71%
National level awards in sports, quiz and Science exhibition.
With this profile, do you think I have any hope of getting into great lakes? I mean that please advise me if I shold apply for great lakes or not.
Regards,
Priyanka.

Re: Great Lakes Admissions 2008 - 23-11-2007, 03:12 PM

[quote=mns2002;892344]Hello friends,
I am Mohit. my profile is
Age 32
10th : 65.5
12th 70.8
MBBS: 55.5
5 years experience with 1 year in UK
GMAT 690, AWA: 3.5 (not good at typing)

1. What are my chances at Great Lakes??
Ur profile looks really good. Go ahead and apply.

2. How do I get my UK recommender to send me a recommendation letter offline??
U can ask him to fill the reco and courier it to Greatlakes directly or forward it to u.

3. Can the Reco letter be typed??
Yes, the online reco letter is in word document format and the answers can be typed. But it has to be signed by recommender and sent to us.

4. At present, I am running my own hospital (Dad's). Who do I take the recommendation from?
You can get it from someone at the higher management level in ur hospital who could giv us a clear picture abt u.

5. Will it be a negative point in my application to be a doctor.??
No we look for diverse background. So it would be an advantage. Even we have 2 doctors in our batch.

6. How tough is the GD?? I do have excellent communication skills but am unsure about GD.
GD will be organised and structured. So need not worry abt it.

Hope i have answered ur queries

Cheers,
GLaker.

Hi,

Cheers,

Hi,
We prefer people with 2 yrs work ex.
But we do take freshers if their profile is exceptionally good.

Cheers,
GLaker.

Yes We donot have sectional cutoffs

Also please let me know about the LOR's & Essays
How many do we need to apply(LoR & Essays).
You have to get 2 reco letters and write 4-5 essays. The recos can be from ur superiors at work.
What should be the essays content.
The essays are mostly on ur career goals, achievements and topics abt u. No general topics.

Do every one get diff essays.
Everyone gets the same essays

Please explain the process.
We look at the entire application package of applicants and then normalise the scores and shortlist for GD/PI

I m sorry for shooting so many queries.
But i feel if have any chance i cant loose it at all. From last 1yr i m chasing a dream of a seat @ Glakes.

Any comments are welcome.

All the Best

Cheers,
GLaker

Hi,

The avg cat score last year was around 96%ile.
The cutoff solely depends on the applicants.
Moreover we look at the overall application package which includes ur work ex, score , acads, recos, essays etc for shortlisting.

Cheers,
GLaker.
