My post/reply is wrt to MBA course/jobs only.Nothing to do with the general condns of the asian or labour laws.

Hi Raja / Rec2mba,

I think this is turning into a personal squibble, and frankly i think there no black and white answer for this.

However i do feel that Raja was bit presumptious in suggesting or rather propogating the UK colleges. Frankly there are some good schools there like LBS, Warwick, MBS, Imperial college, etc........... but there is no need to point a finger towards them mate......instead let ppl decide on their own, what is more suited to their own needs.

Also, rec2mba, even though i agree with ur overall point, i beg to differ on 2 points.

1) the tube-bomber comment: yes it is difficult times after 9/11 and the london blasts, especially for indian students (some of my friends have faced incidents)....... but there is no need to make a generalised and heavy statement like that dude.

2) Asians are not able to progress well in UK: Not necessarily. I work in a large MNC organization head-quarterd in london, and frankly the indians over there seem to be doing really well for themselves.

So guys chill, as this is quite a grey matter. There is no A or B answer for the same; there can also be C or D here

Cheers and all the best to both of you.

Now that i have made it I have a few questions
When should we come to Chennai. Would there be any provision of initial stay, by the time we search for place to stay around? How can we contact the students already staying around campus, so that when they leave we can take there place.
Hi Trulyyours,
Regarding acco from UnkIndMonk - a senior...

As fr accommodation, let me explain the scene

Most of our current batch puts up in the colony where the college is currently located and that being Srinagar colony. When we came here then v took the flats of our seniors and thats exactly wht u guys will have to do once you are here.

Flats are decent albeit slightly expensive however when 3-4 guys or gals stay together then it does not pinch hard.Water scarcity is nt a big issue so no need to worry about that. Now here is the important part..........our batch will stay till april end and its only in May beginning that v guys will start vacating our flats. Hence fr a week or so u guys will have to put up in near by guest houses as we did( dnt worry abt that too as college has an entire list of such temporary accommodations in near by places)

Coming 2-3 days before commencement of course may not be a smart move as u will realise that the flats of most of the seniors is already booked. Best move wld be that once u guys have payed ur initial deposit u ppl can start contacting current batch students through the Jaycees community in orkut. This way u guys can reserve flats for urself.

Does gLakes help in getting of loans?
Hi KayKay/UnkIndMonk,

Please reply to the above queries as I am planning to take up education loan too. Does the insti provide any kind of support in this regard and if yes, are the interest rates subsidized?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Great Lakes Admissions 2008 - 09-03-2008, 07:25 PM

hi Seniors,

I want to know College's policies on a person who joins on Sabattical leave from the company to pursue the course.

Though I am not very keen on this option but would still want to know incase it is required.

I have heard that some colleges do not allow students to sit in placements who have come on sabattical leave. Is this applicable for Great Lakes too???

Were there any students in this year batch who had come on sabattical leave? if Yese were they allowed to sit in Placements ???

Ippy
