Just another query which was told to me by one of my ISB friend ( as ISB also doesn't have AICTE approval)
Is it so that the tax rebate given by IT dept of india doesn't apply to the EMI's for an education loan taken for a course not recognised by AICTE ?
I have also referred 'Economic Times' 3rd march edition page num-14 article- "Learn to lessen the study load".
You have once been in our place and wud certainly understand our dilemma therefore please clarify whther this thing is going to affect our Tax planning while we work after passing out from Glakes? Are Glakes alumni getting tax rebates for edu loan emi's currently ?
Thanks in advance
Hi Jim,

In this link there is a statement
Fees paid, except the Security Deposit, will not be refunded, if the student withdraws after the commencement of the program
After reading this line I inferred that if you withdraw b4 the commencement of the course the full money will b refunded and after commencement only security will be refunded. But kaykay s saying 50K will not be refunded. Nowhere in the complete webpage it is mentioned like they will retain 50K. According to me 50K is a huge chunk of money and I donno on what groung the institutuion s retaining tis in the event of withdrawal from the cource. If it is after commencement it sounds logical to retain the full money.
why there is a ambiguity in these?.
If the insti has such policy why it s not posted in the site or published in the admission brouchure?
If a candidate withdraws his candidature b4 commencement the insti will definitely b able to find another candidate so tis 50K will go into whose account?
glakes is a non profitable institution then y its doing like this. nowadays most of the colleges refunds the complete fees.
I think the insti should comeout with a suitable answer
Kindly correct me if Iam wrong

May b coz they need funds for the Infrastructure..
Also its AICTE rule that if one withdraw admission b4 commensement of course den colg cant deduct more den 1000/- (One thousand)...but since GLIM is not approved by AICTE..de can do their manmani....If dis is so, den i dont think dis colg wil ever get approval from AICTE..

Puys, please show some maturity while posting messages.
People are going all agog and writing whatever they feel. There are number of B Schools in India who say initial deposit is non-refundable.And quite a few people have lost money on that.

Lets just be patient and think rationally. And regarding placements and other admission related queries, there are some gaps but then I guess it happens.

Its a new school and coming up pretty well. Cant we give some benefit of doubt for the kind of effort they have been putting in. Some people say they want Merger Acquisition profile, some want dream consulting , and people are concerned about salary. We could not crack IIMs, ISB etc and then expect same kind of profiles from a relatively new but promising Great Lakes. Just to remind you, even from these top schools, MnA's and BCGs and McKinsey's are for only handfull of people.

Just for the information, Cognizant rates Great Lakes grads highly. A grade school . I know of people working as SBA in CTS Kolkata(2 years work ex and the GLakes MBA). His teammates are from IIM- I,K and SPJAIN and this guy says there's no differentiation. Same with CSC. A guy working in CSC as SBA is from Great Lakes 07 passout. I came accrros his profile through their blog "Great Laker wordpress" smthng.. Talked to one guy who is six years workex and passing out this year and is well placed in Wipro as Senior Consultant(with an assurance to be moved to pre sales in a year)

Point here is try to find out with all possible ways rather than speculating and spamming the thread (and in some cases psyching out the weak hearted Puys who believe rumors more than thmselves). Doing that we wud have set reasonable expectations right from day one and wont be disappointed seeing the placement report or the job profile.

Hi ,

Our seniors r getting tax rebates for the educational loan that they hav taken.
So dont worry abt the rules & references.
Be relaxed.

Cheers,
Kaykay

Hi,

We hav got enough funds to construct the new building and we donot strive on the fees.
Just find the number of colleges which has AICTE approval but dont refund the fees.
And AICTE doesnt cancel their approval.
We have filed for AICTE approval and it is under progress.
We dont take fees from u and then say we dont refund it.
We r stating it clearly that the intial 50k is non-refundable.
It is up to u to take the call whether to join or wait for other institutes results.

Cheers,
Kaykay
