lateral placement for other progs r available..only silver lining is that there is a clear statement on brochure about providing placement assistence to self sponsored candidates..no where in this world we can get any info abt what kind of "assistence" is actually given and wht kind of placement such students get..only if anybody knows such non-sponsored candidates getting placement can actully throw us some light..once agin apealing to seniors..passed outs------- to pl give us some info..seems be worth joining only if u get atleast a study leave.

well the calls are out,,,,,just a brief abt the program from whatever i have been able to collect abt the EPGMP ( formaerly NMP),,,,this is one of the oldest programs MDI has been running but till date this was a program which was funded by the PSU and other semi govt agencies by getting their executives trained,,,,but with the market for middle management one year executive MBA growing (ISB, IIM PGP, XLRI GMP , GLIM etc) MDI had to take the call or risk lagging behind,,,hence they are and will try to reposition and rechristene this particular program from this academic session( first step being the change of name for the program) ,,,,they would infact provide placement assistance ( read placement coordination and college pushed placement networking) to self sponsored candidates who are expected to be 30 odd in no's besides the 80-90 sponsored candidates,,,,,well now the worth of the program will depend on various factors,,,,first how hard MDI pushes the program,,,,how much does one value the brand MDI,,,,,will MDI be able to place the program in the same league as of its direct competitiors ( after all even MBA is a market),,,,then one's personal stomach for competitions becoz one thing is for sure if MDI is able to do what they claim then even this program is going to get hot ( remember early bird catches the worm,,,when MDI started the PGP HR admits were with even 91 percentile,,,,GREAT LAKES till last year even took people with 88 percentile and this year thier cutoff has been raised to 96,,,,ISB in its intial years welcomed people even with as low as 640),,,the biggest pluses of the course,,,,it is AICTE accredited,,,cost is low,,,, boarding lodging and so called europe component ( throw in a laptop),,,,still it will not go beyond 8 lakh for the entire duration ( all inclusive) and remember indian job market is on a boom,,,so if you can take the risk of being the pathbreakers,,,the trailblazers then I would say it is worth a serious thought

Hi,me too got a call from MDI for NMP. I am having a work ex of 5+ years in a sales of electrical capital goods in a leading MNC. cat percentile 87. Btech electrical from Aligarh Muslim University.

I have talked to a present student of NMP . he has informed me follwoing :-
#1 . Present batch size 82. Self sponsored 12 , rest PSU execs.
#2 . Placement assistance not provided to present batch. However they have managed a very impressive show on their own.
#3 . This year they aim to increase the intake of self sponsored candidates to 25.
#4 . Till this year foreign component was optional. But now its compulsory. I intend to discuss this with the chairman of the program.


I agree that MDI being a brand to reckon with in this market, it wont be too hard to get a job. Only thing remains is that how much supprt MDi would extend for this matter.

to add to my last post...regarding comparision with ISB and SPjain 1 year , i feel the only diff would be the glamour element . Unlike these , MDI and XLRI do not advertise their institutes like commodities and hence it seems that the quality of course is not at par with them.
I only wish to make the point that we all being experienced industry guys , should not get carried away in these marketing gimmicks and take inoformed descision about our future.

there is no doubt abt faculty ..or infrastructure and on top of it..MDI cannot afford to lose the one yr MBA race..they will definitely push hard to excel in this initaitive and with the help of experienced managers (as evident from this thread itself) , MDI can pull off big surprise in the very first yaer...only leaving a prized job can b little risky ..a study leave would be the best bet.....but let's leave that decesion till selection..even selecetion may b tough for the fact that only 25-30 seats r there.

I am not sure how would a mix of 30 odd self financing
students & 90 sponsored candidates work out.

Will that dilute MDI's enthusiasm for working towards
Lateral placements?

Also the industry response needs
to be factored in. There is no doubt that we are all
experienced but till now the Industry has been mostly
placing it's bet on fresh whiz kids (reflected in CAT scores)
from IITs etc.
