Dear Puys,
I just watched the CNBC Awaaz news....and they had some really really heartening news for all of us. If u have already taken admission into a B-school and u want to withdraw that admission and go to a better B-school , then your money is not lost....!!!!!!! There can b only a max deduction of Rs. 1000 made by the B-school were u have deposited ur fee in case u wanna withdraw that amount. This is according to the latest circular and notice brought out by AICTE in the leading newspapers today. Please read today's (April 19, 2007) Hindustan Times Page No. 11 Right Hand bottom corner.....I cant tell u abt the other Newspapers.....'cos i subscribe only to HT.......so go get ur or ur parents' hard-earned money back......
Do or Do not......there is no try.

Yes, is is extremely heartening news. The MRTPC had ordered SP Jain to give back all the fees to a student last year, but he had to file a case and fight it out till spet to get his money back. this notice from AICTE should, hopefully, ensure that we dont have to waste our precious time and money for what is rightfully ours ( ok, i know that there exists a section who feels that the b-schools are doing anything wrong........... but no debates about that please ).
Lets hope the AICTE gets cracking, especially this year when the IIM and MDI results are delayed...
the notice is there in todays Indian Express also.

Its indeed a welcome step !
The institutes amass a huge wealth this way every year. I just wonder if this would be applicable to candidates who have deposited and lost money in previous years.
What's obvious is obviously wrong

In the midst of confusions and frequent date extensions by IIMs, this public notice of AICTE has come as a respite to thousands of ppl like me.
I was ambivalent about taking admission till yesterday. More so, I reached the counselling at IMT 6-7 hours late (my counselling was at 8:30, but I reached there at 2:20). With this notification, students like me won't have any regrets, since they can choose their institute without being bothered about the fee payed to other institutes. Lucky me.

Hi all,
This question may sound a bit stupid but can any1 confirm if management institutes such as SP Jain, NMIMS, XLRI, ISB n other private b-schools come under the per view of this announcement.
The reason for this query is because the public notice emphasizes on 'Institutes imparting technical education'. Can we call PGDBM - Post graduate diploma in business management (degree given by most of these institutes) be regarded as technical studies ? Please confirm.
Thanx in advance
Regards
Sarab

All institutions approved by AICTE have to follow this notice. there are a few b-schools ( none in the top league as far as i know ), which arent approved, but then that hardly matters....
SP, NMIMS and XLRI definitely have to follow it. ISB, i dont know, but i think they would also have to.
However, ISB can get out of this, because the AICTE notice says that schools have to refund money till the start of their sessions, and a proportionate amount afterwards till the last possible date of admission. the course in ISB starts in the second week of april, which can be before b-schools considered better than them ( maybe a few IIMs ).
IMT ghaziabad has already changed their refund policy to adhere to the AICTE norms. Most other b-schools will follow suit soon, most probably...
