Every AICTE recognized institution falls under the purview of this rule. So, IIT is no exception.

As for the case of admission fee being non - refundable, it can certainly be appealed against as it constitutes a malpractice. I myself am fighting such a case in the MRTPC (Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission) against an institution by the name of B. R. Nahata college of pharmacy, Mandsaur, MP. As I go through thread, its easy to find a lot of students like me who have been cheated in a similar manner. If I may, my humble request to all of these people is to come out in the open and unite for a common cause.

Hoping that justice finally prevails...

Well, as per my information, this was the move initiated by HRD ministry and on their directive AICTE came out with notices regarding admission cancellation and fee refund. So I suppose you can try for it but not through AICTE. when we lost our money we were in tch with AICTE people and they had assured us that they will consider our request. But fortunately before AICTE could take its move, the concerned college refunded our money. One move could be to rope in some media agency.. they will be more than happy to help you provided u give them all the information. It will be better if you get in tch with a few more people who are in similar situation and voice ur concern together. The more the merrier.
Hope it helps and u get ur money back.. i can understand hw it feels to loose someone's hard earned money..
Regards

Even Amity is also not AICTE recognized. They have mentioned in the prospectus that they do not refund any money other than security deposit. They seem to be adamant about not returning the fees.
but yes, media agency seems like a good option to get our money back.
Just in case if this doesn't work out, how should we go ahead about taking this matter to court?
