This question may sound a bit stupid but can any1 confirm if management institutes such as SP Jain, NMIMS, XLRI, ISB n other private b-schools come under the per view of this announcement.

The reason for this query is because the public notice emphasizes on 'Institutes imparting technical education'. Can we call PGDBM - Post graduate diploma in business management (degree given by most of these institutes) be regarded as technical studies ? Please confirm.

YES....!!!!
MBA is also under the jurisdiction of this notice and of AICTE. This notice is for all the BE/BTech, ME/MTech, MBA and some other degrees.

Also this notice states that all institutes , Universities, and Deemed-to-be-Universities are bound to refund ur fee.

and as far as NMIMS is concerned they are 'very proud' of the fact that they are a University ...so they'll have to refund the fee. And so will SPJAIN and XL and Symbios Family instis and IIFT and all the other instis.....
so its time to whip their a*s. ......they've already made plenty of money in the past by forfeiting ppl's fee. .......


though the only thing worth pointing out is that ISB is not recognized by AICTE....and its not a University or a deemed-to-be Univ......so there may b a problem thr....

I was very happy at first that the AICTE has brought out this notice but on thinking abt this matter for a while it seems to me that our dear Mr. Arjun Singh has played a masterstroke. 'cos the IIMs had been giving this reason that if they dont declare their results by 21st then students will lose a lot of money in other instis. ...and in a country like our's where the authorities are apathethic about our problems WHY would AICTE act so swiftly and so speedily????
obviously this can only happen if the orders come directly from the higher ups....!!!!!
and all this must have been done to rob the IIMs of any possible reason for declaration of the results.!!!

anyways these are just the wild wandering thoughts of my mind....but atleast a certain politician Mr. Singh has been able to help us get our fee back..!!!!!

just a point i wud like to make tht this may not actually help few ppl who are waitlisted, as ppl wud block multiple seats till they are not sure of whr to take admission as they stand to lose only Rs 1000 per institute.. so more problems for waitlisters.. but in a way its gud as it benifits the student community as whole.. but then everything has a negative side..

Wonderful news. I hope you guys will help in figuring if I am eligible for refund.

I have received admit from IIMB (results declared early perhaps because I applied as NRI candidate, don't hate me for it please) and they asked for non-refundable $5000 (Rs 2,25,000) to sent by April 10. I guess they did it before declaration of result (orignal date was April 12th) because they wanted to profit if I get admit from Ahmedabad. Now the letter clearly said that fee is non-refundable. And theoretically, I agreed to those terms. Can I still get refund on my fee if I join IIMA (if admitted)?

I know that many of you will find this situation unsual but what I am trying to say is that even when letter mentions that fee is non-refundable and payer agrees, does this rule of refund still apply? Of course, it is another question if they will find someone to replace me with (who will pay NRI rate, twice the normal), though I think it should be pretty easy.

As such I personally don't see any reason for IMI people to not refund the amount in case you withdraw admission before classes commence, however since the AICTE notification has come out, you can always call them up, quote the same and ask them directly.
For a quicker response PM Shivanku and post this message on IMI thread as well. That shall give a better idea.

Hi all..

This notification indeed comes as a sigh of relief for all students with multiple calls.. but i guess there is 1 clause in the notification which can bail out many colleges.. it says

'Should a student leave after joining the course and if the seat consequently falling vacant has been filled by another candidate by the last date of admission, the Institution must return the fee collected with proportionate deductions of monthly fee and proportionate hostel rent, where applicable'..

as you all might be aware, many insts including most of simbi family, etc.. have completed their admsn process.. they might well say 'we are done with our admsn process' hope this wont be the case..

what do you guys think??

It is a university affiliated to UGC and not AICTE.
Does it fall under the (Rs. 1000) refund policy of AICTE.
