Exactly... But the system needs change because of everything... not just one issue.. the way this country is run needs to be addressed! don't want to bring up all GD PI topics now, but a lot of us don't even have political opinions. It's time somethign was done about the system, and not just talk... even if this issue gets resolved tomoroow.. it does not change the fact that something went wrong..and what do you guys think we can do to make sure it doesn't happen again
make sure this doesnt die ut when all of you celebrate your converts...

Though the apex court had stayed the admissions under the OBC quota this year, the IIMs had said that they would announce the final list from general and SC/ST candidates on April 12.
IIM-Ahmedabad has already decided it will not implement the quota in the 2007-2008 academic year, if the Supreme Court stay is not vacated by April 12.

'Mera Bharat Mahan' ... but these politicians are doing every thing they can to make sure it no longer stays 'Mahan' ... they are taking pains to make sure that this belief fades away from the heart of Indians ...
Do they know how we are counting every day ... every hour ... every minute ... when will 12th april come ... can they feel this painful wait ... they will only if after voting the results are not declared for 2-3 months ... (but that never happens)

Dear HRD !! -
08-04-2007, 10:50 AM
Our country is going to pieces Thnks to these illiterate, senseless, powerhungry politicians. They want to enforce reservation "no matter what"....they are worse than school children....even school children listen to elders....and they are not this adament.
These people say that a caste based census will cause discrimination and they think that a direct caste based reservation will not....Thank you Arjun Singh ji for revealing that you think all Indian public is a bunch of fools. HRD says that General can't get their results while OBCs are cooling their heels....ya true....as if it was generals who asked for reservations at the first place. The only logic they give to support their figure is Indira case (1993) .....well sir...what about the other question which SC asked .....what about creamy layer? And even if HRD decides to do away with this issue it will takes months before the bill is modified and passed by both the houses. Yes sir, we will wait.....no matter what you do....no matter how many mistakes you make...we will always be their for you to pass on the inconvinience to us. You call these institutes islands of excellence. Islands because they are autonomous, excellence: because they don't compromise with the quality......Sorry sir to remind you but how can you call these autonomous when they can't even declare the results when they want to and calling them "excellent" will be a mockery when more than 50% of students there will not be because of merit but because of family in which they were born.
Yes sir I fully agree with you that it was completely my mistake that I was born in a Brahmin middle class family and me being the successor of old dominant upper castes you have full auothority to take revenge from me and torture me.
I just hope that India will be able to compete with other nations with sub-standard students in IIMs and IITs and then this competition will be with talented Indian students who will leave the country because of your policies. And these talented students will find their way up....."no matter what" you do........you can take our well deserved seat from us Mr. minister but you can't take away our talent.

It's high time that Atlas shrug; where is John Galt? -
08-04-2007, 05:43 PM
Call me selfish, 'coz the person without self can't achieve anything.
Only a person, who can link his self to general good, can change the world.
People who ask for introspection should read this:
I always vote. However, it is always choosing the lesser evil. Why don't I become a politician myslf? 'coz I don't have that strong a leadership quality that it takes. So, I always vote looking at who will harm less.
I don't bribe at the traffic signal. I do follow all the rules, & still end up paying for the chalan fee: Once I was on a new road, & I didn't know it's one way coz there was no sign there. Other time my bike broke down in the middle of the road.
I believe that people who are underpriviledged should be supported. But this support should be in form of money. If you are not able to pay for fees due to poor finances that's understandable, if you can't perform, that's not. No body stops you from following your passion. Today, I had seen news of a labour-man who cleared IAS main. So, I've fact to support my statement. We support that merit should not be curbed due to finances, but not that past dues (of so called suppression) be settled by killing merit.
Finally, I'm not the only one with such feelings, but most of us might be feeling along the same lines. And yes this includes benefeciaries of this quota regime also.
You have right to remain silent. You might have even ignored this post, but you chose not to & now you can't change that.

I've got what it takes to take what you've got...
