Buddy do not read much into the words showered by the media... These people know nothing....( Remeber the gal,who got to know her standing by invoking RTI, many news channels were claining that she has gotten a distinction and still denied a seat)..such is the knowledge of these reporters.....If the IIMs havent disclosed the selection procedure for the OBC candidates, there is no way these ppl could know things, about the IIM admissions...

As far as your considering for the general candidate, I think IIM A C and K had mentioned the category as well (Correct me if I am wrong).. For the other IIMs you can actually compare your percentiles with the ppl who have got calls...You can find it out for yourself....

And there is nothing as "sacrosanct" cut offs, they do vary with ur profile which includes work ex, ur passout marks and even the institute. Thats y we find out of two people hvnt almost similar CAT scores one being called by IIM X and other didnt.

There are people in IIMs with their percentile in 97+ under GEN category and this fact can be verified by Puys who r in IIMs and to most of IIM junta i hv spoken to, say that after the Calls, GD PI has maximum weightage in the final selection. There have been ppl with 99.5+ , all 6 calls and not even a single conversion.

How to handle OBC if there isnt OBC quota? Well well...None but IIMs can answer this question !!!

Even there is a difference among IIMs as far as this issue is concerned. IIMA,C for sure called everyone(GEN,OBC) clearing the GEN cutoff udner GEN category.There is a separate list of OBCs who got calls by clearing OBC cutoffs. The GEN cutoff is universal and whoever clearted it is treated as GEN category guy only.

So, should there be two separate list and OBC guys need to wait till the issue is resolved I dont think guys who cleared GEN cutoff need to be apprehensive as they are treated as GEN guys only.

the spread sheet what you meant( iit domss) is for ascertaining how many waitlist wer issued and to find where we stand because we donno the waitlist no.

and it really proved to be helpful and we can infer many thing from that.........

it's true perception is different, but u'll get a brief idea about where do u stand.
