Apparently after the supreme court judgment on Thursday, that was exactly what the IIMs had decided to do. But the argument of the govt is that by releasing and re-releasing the final lists would cause more than a few ppl to skip a heartbeat. also we have a case ( as mentioned in TOI today ) where an OBC has left his job to join IIFT and now his admission (and future) is at stake. we don't want this to happen to anyone, from any catagory...

2) Does the HRD ministry have any deadline to solve this issue so that the academic calender starts on time ?
3) what if the SC is adamant on staying quotas, and the HRD ministry on staying admissions till the quotas are approved ? do we do our MBA in our next lives in such a case ?

1) The HRD/government would move the SC early next week. They would demand the case to be heard by a larger bench. They would be banking upon the same oldie thing 'Indra Sahwney case...'
2) The stay on admissions is for an indefinite period. So as such there is no deadline for the HRD.
3) This is bound to happen. The government doesnt have any new point.
Damn the whole world. Damn the SC and the government. If only the SC and the government had access to pagalguy, have they realised......

Dude i think u r taking the statement out of context... 'academic year lost' here is in reference to the implementation of OBC quota only. I don't think either the SC of the govt has the guts to scrap an year of the IIMs

1) What steps is the HRD ministry taking to move things ahead ? there was some talk of a hearing by a special bench of the SC next week. any news on that ?
It does not matter really. What they are saying is that they will file the review petition (moving at their own snail pace) and that might take 3-4 working days in the best case. After that the inefficient court will start its process, that again might take 10-12 days in best case.
Do not ask me the worst case time complexity. It might be 2-3 years. And IIMs might shut shop for that time..
2) Does the HRD ministry have any deadline to solve this issue so that the academic calender starts on time ?
They do not work under deadlines. It hinders their natural style of working. Besides there is none to monitor them. So that even if they have deadlines, they can keep on postponing them. The only feasible deadline for them is 5 years.. (their tenure) and they are very much in favor of doing away wit that.
3) what if the SC is adamant on staying quotas, and the HRD ministry on staying admissions till the quotas are approved ? do we do our MBA in our next lives in such a case ?
First I know the court is not adamant. Mr. Moily, the gr8est proponent has even said that SC order is not a stay. It has said It is advisable .... So, he is advising the government that it presses ahead with the reservation.
Second, the court itself had been threatened by some idiotically shrewd politicos like Paswan that if they do not vacate the stay, reservation will be pressed even in Judiciary. SO they are really afraid.
Then if politicos are united in a choice, Judiciary can't do anything. If anyone remembers the Indira reign, she cut the Judicial powers to an extent that it became a silent spectator.
Fourth, I do not have high hopes with the inefficient Judiciary. After all, they are only the products of bureaucratic education that was prevalent in our country some time back...
Someone tell them that once the Admission process has started their silly decisions and judgments should not affect the prospective candidates. DO they consider it logical for colleges to withdraw their offers of admission.
Someone posted a touching story about an MNC engineer who quit his job for that IIFT seat that might now be elusive for him.
In their hunger to show each other's superiority they can go to any extent, without caring about the future of youth..
Why do not you understand people that they are trying to convey a message? Enjoy your life and remain as much careless as they are. Then you won't care about such trivial stuff like getting into IIMs.
Hard Work is not known to have killed anybody, but Why take a chance?

Felt horribly frustrated when I read the news in the morning, but I was kind of expecting it after the SC verdict.
I am working in a company which demands 2-3 months notice period before joining. I dont know how to handle the situation at my office, if at all I get a call.
When the verdict was passed, SC should have added a statement that there will be no reservations this year, and they will be implemented from next year i.e if the data is verified correctly, or they should have gone the other way, i.e reservation to be implemented this year and then there was enough time to decide what happens from the next year.
Anyways the institutes have been given the liberty of time to implement these reservations(2-3 years), so IIMs should be haveing the liberty to no increase reservation this year..right??
With a pile of 300 résumés on his desk and a need to pick someone quickly, my boss told me to make calls on the bottom 50 and toss the rest.
"Throw away 250 résumés?" I asked, shocked.
"What if the best candidates are in there?"
"You have a point," he said.
" But then again, I don't need people with bad luck here ."
