Its not 2 days..its already 9 days late.
12th was the date.
Whats the gaurantee that after 2 days the Govt will allow the IIMs. Once decided 21st, the IIMs should come out with the list on that date.

Secondly why meeting tomorrow and why not today? Last time also IIMs made the same mistake. They got the letter on 5th but they took any action on the 12th.

I agree.
The IIM decision to go ahead with the results on April21 was not a welcome one for the HRD. Even a part of media was opposing it.
Now with the court hearing planned on 23, the pressure on iims will be much more.
If they go ahead with the results on 21st, the Govt as well as media will critisize them for unwanted haste asking Cant they even wait for a couple of days more?
So I wont blame the IIMS, if they posrpone the results.

Now thinking logically, what will happen on April 23?
1)The SC will reject the plea. In that case, IIMs will declare the result with no obc reservation on april 23.
2)The Govt has done good homework, the SC decides to give it a thorough look, Will give another date for the next hearing. Probably next week. Now IIMs will be in a fix again. They surely cant w8 till May. So their has to be a confrontation with the Govt.
3)The SC shows green signal to quota on april 23 itself. The probability of this - next to nothing.

So IIMs will decide to wait hoping for scenario 1 to happen to prevent a showdown with Govt.
Even Govt will prefer scenario 1. In that case there is no show down with the IIMs. Still they can claim thay did everything to ensure the implemantation of quota this year.

Now who are the losers? OBC candidates for sure.
All those who had to go ahead with ISB/XL ...... fee payment
All the candidates who has to go thru the agonising w8 for so long. Remember, the stand that IIMS took soon after the March 29, SC decision is the one which is going to be implemnetd even now.
Even the IIMs, remeber their 'admission calendar is sacrosant'

Directors of all six Indian Institutes Management will meet on Friday in the wake of SC fixing April 23 as the next date of hearing on Government application.

The application is seeking vacation of its stay on implementation of 27 per cent OBC reservation in institutes of higher learning.

Refusing to divulge the venue of the meeting, sources in the IIMs said that a meeting would certainly take place to decide on the issue.

One official of the Union HRD Ministry may also be present.

Asked whether the proposed meeting would decide in postponing its April 21 deadline for announcing the final list, they simply said the meeting could either decide or each IIM could independently do so.

Stalled once again by the apex court on the reservation plans, the government is of the view that IIMs should not go ahead with the admission process for the coming academic session.

Sources in the HRD Ministry said that the responsible people running the elite institutions would act in the national interest.

The government has been under intense support from its allies particularly DMK and PMK for implementing the quota regime from this academic year.

After this the ministry had earlier told all the IIMs, IITs and other Centrally-funded institutions to put on hold the admission process and not to issue offer of admission.

The directive from the ministry came after a meeting of leaders of UPA and Left parties, which had resolved that the government would take all appropriate steps to ensure that the reservation for OBCs to the extent of 27 per cent becomes operational from this academic session.

IIM A - "Results will surely be out on 21st, dunno abt the other IIMs."
IIM B - "Waiting for MHRD directive.No idea abt whether results will come on 21st."
IIM C - "Check our website on the 21st. We can't tell u anyting conclusive as of now.It is upto the CAT committee to decide"

Not sure whom you talked to. It might be possible that IIM A will come out with the results. But again all will depend on the meeting tomorrow. IIM A might postpone the results.
The NDTV article also says that individual IIMs can decide, however I highly doubt that.
Also if IIM A has decided to come out with the results before 23rd, then they might as well come out with them today..why even wait till 21st..what will change in 2 days?

well mr. crazy seems like u hv made more enemies than frnds in this thread and now u are trying to make frnds....but rely tell me if i was told that my result was to be declared on 12th of april and then told to wait till 21st and evn then not sure of when the result WILL be finally declared then i wud be a little worried which by no means is overreacting and if u are fighting for the rights of OBC students then this is our right to get the right information abt the results and y shudnt evn a 1 day delay worry me??imagine sitting in front of ur pc and typing in ur roll nmbr and then waiting for the results evn those 5 seconds delay is nerve wrecking so y not this 9 days???imagine living those 5 seconds again and again for 9 days and u will get my point....also we dnt only hv to know whether we got in we also need info whether we didnt so that we can strt thinking abt preparing for GMAT and CAT...or think abt changing our job where our manager is alredy not giving us wrk bcuz we gave CAT...we hv to strt thinking abt our future....we cant stop thinking abt it just bcuz some foolish minister once had a dream abt giving reservations and the very next day WITHOUT ANY SURVEY OR ANYTHING said that we will reserve 27% seats...for another category ...OBC's...i dnt hv anything against reservation but like evry1 i want transparency to be brought in but we cannot believe a govt. which is just after votes only to do anything and most of our anger is towards it...and not OBC's or any other category....also if the govt. is so concerned abt giving equal oppurtunity to categories then it shud make provision in the primary schools....and as some1 said that now suppose that an OBC got admission to IIT then y shud he use it again to get into IIM...or if his dad used reservation to get into an IIT or an IIM or for that matter any reputed institute in the country then y shud his child also use the same...hvnt we given him equal oppurtunity once...wat can we do if he didnt use it to his advantage....that means that he is not capable enough so is that haoppens then again it goes against reservations...i personally know many frnds who are frm reserved categories but hv done vry well...but then again they wud hv done the same if they were frm general category so in a way by giving reservation u are making them lazy if i may say so....
Well if things go this way then the govt must also make a law restricting the general ppl giving birth to only 1 child in this way the prportion wud also be maintained and we all wudnt hv any problem...rite???
