What is this thread for? -> Results Frozen ! Admission to ALL central institutes stayed !
What is the quality of the last few pages here, esp 1 liner off topic posts -> nearly ZERO!
What impression will the next CAT takers get from this thread abt users ->
"Will it come on 21st or 23rd?!" like posts will get you the result early? -> NO
Many of you might end up taking admission in IIMs by the end of this exam season, and I am sure you'll not like getting a tag of "spammer" from others. You all are mature users folks, but i'm sorry to say that some of the one liner off topic posts don't reflect any maturity.
I'm still not closing this thread as you all would like to have a healthy discussion about result declaration. So kindly control your anxiety and stop posting un-useful messages. Self moderate please! Be a little disciplined and please don't start arguing here -> Send a PM instead! And stop groaning at every post like kids as if someone has taken away your candy! DO NOT REPLY to this message and argue further on this point. Use Thanks/Groan if you want to comment on my message. Thanks in advance for your support!

The article in ET says
"It seems the government’s argument is simple: violating the order of April 5 asking the IIMs to put the admissions on hold will be an act against the collective will of Parliament. Legal experts point out that there was no law guaranteeing 27% reservation for OBCs when the case was filed. Now, with a law in place, the OBCs, too, will have a case. "
Few days back we were discussing OBC's case and the articles mention that even OBCs have a case. Y not we all file cases against HRD Ministry & Arjun SIngh ?

This story is taking all twists and turns. I am no legal expert but i think SC has full power to revoke/question any law or decision taken by the govt. I think the recent ruling on 9th schedule proves this. So, govt.'s argument of saying that holding the reservation will violate "law" will not hold.
Correct me if iam wrong.
The delay has already created problems especially for those who will be attending special course which will start in May itself. I really hope that IIMs put up a brave show in front of HRD and tell them the meaning of autonomous. Lets see what happens.

Re: Results Frozen ! Admission to ALL central institutes stayed ! -

Good morning folks,
So the Centre has asked the IIMs to delay the results.
And what will the IIMs decide by metting on 20th. What is wrong if the IIMs delcare the "without reservation" results today and then on Monday declare the other results if the Govt wins its case.
IIM A has said 21 and if it moves from that date, they should stop claiming themselves to be autonomous.
With a pile of 300 résumés on his desk and a need to pick someone quickly, my boss told me to make calls on the bottom 50 and toss the rest.
"Throw away 250 résumés?" I asked, shocked.
"What if the best candidates are in there?"
"You have a point," he said.
" But then again, I don't need people with bad luck here ."

Again saying the same thing IIMs are not autonomous in all respects and they have a certain "Memorandum of Understanding" with Govt of India, which they have to adhere to. And even then IIMs will weigh the things before deciding the course of action. 2 days delay VS open confrontation with the govt.
However it would hv been far better had they let IIMs declare the results soon.

See it means something like this though m no expert.
I guess we remember when CAT form was out there were no "confirmed" OBC reservation so we were asked to mention OBC in form subject the centre making it in a law. And at the sametime YFE filed the petition. However later on it was made into a law which was passed by parliament. In essence OBC students were promised by LAW that they have certail seats reserved for them. And the SC stay came when for IIMs (may b not IITs as their admission process hdnt started by then) they had gone one step ahead in their admission process. So these 17 students (in case of IIM A) have a right to ask the govt.
And m not saying abt legality of the result of their questioning govt bt they have a right.
