Ok a very sinmple check:-
- Log on to Welcome to National Institute of Bank Management
- Check this year's (2007) placement details.
- Go to some uncleji working in bank
(any PSB) or go to IBA site and tranform scale into payment or vice versa as being public sector everything is standardised.
Btw, the jobs are primarily of scale II which means a PO plus some 5 years of experience as general practice in PSBs.

In case of ICICI (1 accepted outta 13 offers), job was at par with whatever given across institutes all over India other than ivy league of IIMs, MDI, SPJain in Cat

and likewise in other exams.

Well meet one of the engineers from the 2007 batch comprimising of more than 20% engineers

I won't say non engineers are given prefrence, but that engineers are treated at par

and thus you have to show some mattle( or not to over-show anything extra

) in GD PI, thats all

. Btw congrats on good score, in my batch too we had 2 (outta 35) guys with more than 98%, one being engineer in them

the psb banks recruit students directly at scale 2 , and not only psb private sectors bank and consultancy companies are coming for recruitment

Second part of your post is more like an answer than query:satisfie:, but I guess my reply to the first question here will help you in further investigation

Ya I guess by consultancy companies(I'll prefer calling them non-banks only) you mean Dun and Bradstreet (my employer

) and Aranca )only 2), so please don't start expecting something extra ordinary as being run on RBI funds and public money placement is done keeping PSBs and their requirements in priority so institute considers other firms only if required. Otherwise banking being a shining industry in current times you can expect much better after coming out of an institute like NIBM and having a couple of years experience of Middle management in some big PSB, this all before you even touch your 25

After appearing in GD PI of quite a few institutes and clearing decent one's like GIM,IMI et all I can vouch for one thing, NIBM by far has the most fair and transparent system of admission, so no chance of considering anything other than CAT
For any thing more, Keep in touch!!
Andy
P.S. OOps, I just relised that Chiraag too is from NIBM only, but some how copy pasting posts instead of using "quote" tab :(, So please ignore if something I said earlier considering him also among aspirants.

. Apologies!
