Profile: Fresher, NIT, Surat CAT; 91 XAT: 99.07 Specialisation : Marktg

Time : 11:30, Mumbai SPJIMR campus.
Reached around 11 15 talked with some people waiting for 15 minutes and then went in the DOME-2, where all students had assembled, seniors were sitting at the front with laptops, register as soon as u enter..
things required : CAT Score Card XAt Score Card Photo Identity Photograph (1)
Well had to wait for around an hour before my turn came, chatted with some people there then met an old friend who just had a stress interview, counter questioning on everything!! he thought he did alright, he was a fresher so was I not much grilling on acads..but more on whatever you have written in the questionare. Read ahead, 5 guys and a lady in the group, all work ex except yours truely. One guy without a tie, was damn casual in his approach not very social. Rest everybody good.,..exchanged pleasenteries while waiting for the turn and then were sent in.
3 Panelists, One more guy(probably student) sitting on far right, observing. Panelists one middle aged (looked from industry) One old guy( surely prof) One young guy (surely prof)
So we started, i was No. 2 in group, 2 marketing, 2 finance, 2 ops.
started with guy no.1 : grilling on workex (had worked for 4 years in marketing with thermax and honeyville(check this) satisfactory answers but seemed to go on and on..atleast to me. Moi sitting attentive, nodding and smiling at time. questions goes on for 5 min approx..guys and gals with work ex PREPARE WELL!! t
hen P1 looked towards me and was goin to say something, was interuppted as another work ex guy was grilled next. And that continued, moi last one to be asked. Some cross questioning in betwee, Asked opinions from work ex guys about other's answers. Yours truely just sitting and smiling yet! Well finally on me:
p3: what would you do if u find a 10 Rs note on the road? Moi: will give it to a beggar or in a temple. Why? told about they have the need and stuff..satisfactory
Student: what if it was 10 $? Moi: ya will keep it as a collectible.hearty laugh from the student. p1, p3 smile..p2's phone rang!!! so he went out for a bit.. again asked to justify..easy one. all smiles afterwards.
p2: so what do you learn about marketing from this?
Moi: fundas from a book called "radical marketing" < check this one out. Answer was cool acc to me..pnelists smiled. student smiling all the time. P3: so you have mentioned a lot about values, stuff abt that..
Moi: answered.
P1: what if ITC hires you and asks u to sell cigerrates?
Moi; Flat No. i hate cigerrates!!
p1; what kind of job would u like?
Moi; Chemical company, had an internship with reliance.
p3: so u talked abt enterprenurship. what qualitis shuld one have. Moi: blah blah.. p1: so dhirubhai ambani is ur corpotate idol?
Moi; he has done great and stuff...me a fan of Steve Jobs. talked abt him p1: why do u think he was fired?
Moi: answered. t
hen they asked us if we wanted to add something or ask them something? no.1 started farting about all the good things abt him, rest followed. me asked about DOCC etcx..lady followed with some question and appreciation for DOCC> Good experience. and ya Results out on 1st March on Website. ALl the best puys!!

yea most girls were dressed in formals, but no coats (blazers), and there was the odd female or two who'd be dressed in salwar....but it kinda stood out....shdnt be a problem tho

Intervw started at 11.30
7 of us in the batch (including 1 female)....4 panelists..... 2 female prof...1 male pfor... 1 student.

Student: to #1 u have written about MESA organising in ur form.....somethin on tat
W1: first let us intrduce ourselves and let each one of them introduce them
So we al gave our intro

Student: (to me #2).. on the failure tat i had written in my form
then he asked each one some qustions pertaining to their forms.
W2: i m throwing out a topic - Indian economy is booming..Discuss.
There was a short GD kind of n this one.

M1: (to #4) wat u think r imp qualities of manger.
he answers, then others put in thr opinions.
M1: (to #1) who is more imp. Leader or follower?... he answers
M1: (to me) wat is diff between manager and leader? Is the manager a leader?
I put in my points.

Then another general question on wat shud be one most imp reform undertaken by India for overall improvement ? ....All put in thr answers.
W1: (surprise question) Each one of u ask me one question tat wud make me select u for the 2nd round.
(At first I did not get wat she is askin but managed somethin after listenin to others answers )

W2: why SP Jain (common to all)

And we all were out. It was 45 min interview. was OK. tough to comment on it.
But pretty much relaxed. No grilling. Jus b urself and know ur questionnaire form.
It was a good experience. Seniors were very helpful.
May the deserving get selected.

PS: I may have missed out a few questions.(can't remember all of thm now). Hope this post helps. All the Best.

CAT - 98.99
XAT - 99.73

Xth - 84.4 ( CBSE )
XIIth - 94.0 ( Mah Board )
B.E. ( Comps ) 2005 passout - 71% ( Mumbai Univ )

Work Exp - 17 months in IT

had my GI at 10 AM ( Reporting Time of 9 AM )
My Group had 6 ppl
C1- Moi - Finance
C2 - girl ( Prachi i think , BE, 1 yr IT, last 9 months adv agency ) - Mkt.
C3 - Guy - Mech Engg - 9 months in DRDO - ops. and manu
C4 - Guy - working in IT - IT
C5 - Gal - 2.5 in IT, some more in XX .. Mrkt
C6 - guy - dont rem - Finance

P1 and P2 were two profs , and S1 was a student mostly second year ..

GI started by Introduce urslef to every1 ... 1-6 .. every1 introduced themselves ...

Now in the 9 AM batch- while asking the Intro, they said , speak abt .. this.. this .. this and this ...
So when P1 strted with me, i was waiting for a similar instruction, which never came .. ..
2 secs , 3 , 4 5 ... jaago mohan pyaare !!!
Then i started

Anyway, then they strted asking questions to every1 ...

Now we had a very nice calm cool GI, apart from 1 huge problem ...
C3 - mech engg, working in DRDO, in his introuction, said h wanted to be an entrepreneur, in the medical field, to set up xxxx and a co. which makes xxx , because *blah*
He went very very specific ...
NOw the panel was very much interested ....
they quizzed him ( not stress , genuine interest questions .. they wanted to know him / his ideas better ) ...
Now out of 45 mins , 20 taken up by C3 's PI ...
so only 25 mins for the 5 of us, who had no such specific commitments
So 5 mins for all 5 of us ( approx )
Each of us was asked only 3-4 questions including Introduce Yourself ..

My questions-

Intro urslef
y Finance
Y choose this coll XXX( my engg coll ) after 12th for engg ( because i was getting admin to better 1's on my 12th %age )

last main the student asked me 1 question on something i had written in the form .. but i noted P1 and P2 dint bother at that time , they were not noting or observing ... dunno, maybe S1 also gives marks ..

Anyway, it went ok, answered honestly, no grilling from their side ..
It was a very calm and composed int ..
no surprises .. no GD's .. no compare urslef to an animal

Bus, if i cd have been given 1 or 2 more questions to answer ..

Anyway ATB to all who have theirs tomo ..

So that’s it! SPjain round 1 GI over! Overall it wasn’t too bad. A good exp
