Enjoyed the satire thoroughly
Though I have myself filled the threads on pagalguy pointing out the shortcomings of our great National Wastes... I must come out here in defence of IIM A and B here... and in general the IIMs
Firstly though... they screwed up

Though I have not seen the CAT 2006 paper, Im pretty sure looking at some EU scores of known studs that this time EU may have been fundamentally faulty. Questions and Answers. Their Selection process has always been faulty. When you pay peanuts you get monkeys. That is a typical problem with our IIT/IIMs. They are at the end of the day government organizations. Though they always have had a few very good Profs and good administrators. Its not the infrastructure or the Profs that have made them. The aspirational indian middle class have build their reputation by studying there.
Its a statistical given that if you choose "approximately" the top 1000 ( based on more or less IQ) in any given year... that most of them will do well is an obvious outcome regardless of the education they receive. This is the case for both IITs and IIMs. Selecting engineering students for an IIT based on one exam which sets them up for 4 years in a particular field is an error of the highest order and has been going on in India for close to 50 years now! Selecting management students based on percentiles is almost "
Sheer laziness" and
lack of vision at the top in an IIM. All these institutes have become so averse to change... Its an unbelieavably bad nightmare for hardworking Desi students who just miss out. And my heartfelt sympathies for all those who did miss this time.
I have argued previously that all the IIMs need to do is call for applications after the CAT having a much lower percentile barrier like 97% and lower cutoffs. (or a combination of workex-percentile etc. etc.) This shouldnt be that hard a task when the stakes are so high. I do believe that in the long run this will happen. When ? Government Organization Remember

and yeah lack of enough resources is only a small part of the problem.
But Guys, whatever you do there will be cutoffs

If the cutoff were 92.33, the guy with 92.32 will go ballistic

There is nothing you can do about it. I would also defend IIMB's methods (though not completely )because what they are doing is simply called "profiling" If I dont have enough people from the NorthEast lets say, I would give GDPI calls at slightly lower percentiles and lower acads than others maybe because it would make a better class. If I have too many IITians, I would give toppers from another college a chance... Though its time they told everyone exactly what their criteria is so that the future CATters can make their strategy.
And yeah All this doesnt mean that you stop the jokes
have fun and good job Pradeep
