And Shalin, can you or someone tell me about these books by Arun Sharma. I understand from the different threads that his books are good for quant. Can you give me the titles of his books in all the categories i.e quant,di,ds so that I can purchase them too.
And I've started reading 2 newspapers per day.( TOI/Hindu, ET) Yesterday only, I started reading a magazine per day.(I plan to browse through any business or current affairs mag daily)

arun shama is good, but rather i would suggest you nishit sinha, its a new book and more suitable for the questions which cat asks now a days. and besides hints and sloutions are also there.

Junta here is my personal view on vocab building.
I do agree tht using this prefix-suffix-root method sometimes it is very easy to decipher meanings of unknown words but you can't cover all the words tht frequently crop up in RCs or say in RCVA sectn/editorials etc.
So my advice not to spend to much time on these, knowing some basic root/suf/pref will do but move on to word list nd try to finish this ASAP.
some good sources
1)baron's gre
2)time cue cards
3)IMS word list (frm mat<=1999)
U will have arnd 2500 words tht u will frequently come across perusing newspapers /mags/sites etc.
Dont mug the list but regularly scan through them. Also keep a notebook to jot down contextual usages.
Lastly READ A LOT,even practising a lot of RCVA will not do,u must hav a grt understanding of the language/style ...
Reading newspapers doesn't generally help in pickin styles so read a lot of novels ,strt with wht u like (say thrillr etc) nd increase ur horizon...
Hope this helps
LOVE THE LANGUAGE ,IT WILL RECIPROCATE 4 SURE
@target:don't discuss QA here, specific thrds available 4 ths, check prep resources sectn

Hi mayank. Your idea is really very good. Ya, we should discuss the quant problems. It will help us to know more and more ways ways to solve a particular sum. But, as i said earlier, if this thread is with quantz problems, then it may be possible that a newbie visiting this thread will be bugged up. Alternatively, what we can do is we can open another threads and discuss our Quant problems there. In this way, user-related and interest-related threads will be there. A person who wants general info about CAT will visit this thread and a person who wants to go more deeper in maths will go to that threads of quantz problem section. We can also open specific threads on the basis of materials like discussion of QUANTZ problems of TIME or IMS or PT or ARUN SHARMA or ABHIJIT GUHA, etc. In this way, we can also get an idea how is the material of other institutes. If everybody is ready then we shouldn't wait to open a new thread and discuss our quantz problems.
I request all the puys to give suggestions on this.
Thank You.
Warm Regards,
Shalin Jain

Hi Priyanka,
First of all would like to congratulate u that u have initiated reading mags, newspapers, etc. Good. Keep going. Now regarding your query. The titles of the books by ARUN SHARMA are :
1) HOW TO PREPARE FOR QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE FOR CAT (For Quantz)- Go to this book only if your basics of maths for CAT are clear.
2)DATA INTERPRETATION AND LOGICAL REASONING FOR THE CAT (For DI and LR)- This book is very good for those who are newbies to the concept of DI and LR.
Thank You.

I would like to advice all the CAT aspirants to atleast go through the CAT papers of last 5-6 years without fail. It will really help u a lot to understand the CAT trends. You will really become familiar to CAT paper pattern.
Sorry. i am not able to post my Study-Planner till January. But will surely post it tomorrow alongwith the way i learn vocab.
Thank You.
Warm Regards,
Shalin
